Hosted a dinner event at this quaint establishment and was thoroughly impressed. Danny and team were quite accommodating with our ever growing needs to expand the table, get more seats, order appetizers after entrees and serve up copious bottles of wine. Great wine pairings too. The Lobster roll is pretty good. Will be back again and again...

Thanks so much to the chef for making a special vegan meal & a white wine sauce for the pasta dish last night! The manager was amazing as well!.

Very good find. Clam chowder is excellent. Creamy with complex flavors. Fish was fresh and cooked perfect. Loved the fries (spicy salty). Place is noisy..

Best meal in awhile. Pleasantly surprised by this SOMA find. Very crowded on a Saturday evening, but thankfully we were able to score a last-minute table. Service was excellent - best in awhile - as our server was friendly, knowledgeable and on several occasions pointed us in the right direction. The beer list was solid, all of our appetizers were very well executed, and dessert hit the spot. We were a little disappointed with the entree - not for the flavors, but the portions were smaller than the price would have suggested. Be prepared to talk loudly - the clientele is boisterous. However, these minor negatives are easily outweighed by the strength of the kitchen and staff..

Heard good things, but was very dissappointed. First, it is extremely loud and the patrons are yelling over eachother in conversation. The soup (clam chowder) was watery/tasteless. The entrees came and did nit thrill us. At $30 - the lobster/crab entree was about 4 ounces. We had to ask for bread otherwise I would have had nothing else. There was little lobster in it. I am confused by the percentage of great reviews. Bad night? I dunno, but won't be back..

Happy Hour Oysters. Was recently in town for a conference and was very happy with the dozen $1 Happy Hour oysters I devoured. Also had a lobster roll. Not bad, but also not the best I've had. Probably should have went with Dungeness crab or other Pacific fare. Very nice beer selection and staff was very friendly. I'll be back again..

This place proofs that even though the restaurant is not fancy at all, it fills up quickly based on their reputation for great seafood. I had the Ahi Tuna Poki and the salmon tartar and both were oustanding. Good value for money..

New England Charm. Loved our meal/experience here. Opted to sit at the bar, as it was so charming. Excellent space. Love the decor. Nice combination of Bay and New England charm. Heirloom Tomatoes were a great start. Oysters looked excellent as well. Had the lobster roll and really enjoyed it. A slightly different take on the Maine tradition, and it worked very well! Highly recommend Anchor & Hope..

Not bad; needs finessing. My husband and I split a lovely plate of "angels on horseback" (i.e. the tastiest little oysters I ever had... who said bacon doesn't make everything better?). He then went on to have the lobster roll (a toasted brioche stuff high with lobster chunks - yummy) with chips and such, while I had this seared tuna with giant white beans and vegetables. The brothy sauce in my tuna dish was quite nice, and the beans sopped up the flavour. The tuna itself seemed a bit different than I'm used to for texture (I've had seared tuna elsewhere... I particularly liked some I had in New Orleans a couple years ago). Things got a bit flaky, service-wise, around sweets & coffee/tea time. We got our dessert, but it took another 10 mins (at which time we were nearly done dessert) to get our coffee & tea. Then, the waitress snatched the dessert plate away without asking first if we were done. Ok, fine, there were crumbs left... maybe I LIKE crumbs! So ok, I'm ridiculous. Seriously though, it just felt kind of rude. Service aside, the food and beer were fairly good, and the dcor is neat (the painted fishes on the wall were cool). It's worth a shot..
