Located down on the water, a bit away from the crazy of Fishermans' Warf. Went here with a small dog and sat outside under a heat lamp. They also gave us blankets in case we were cold. The food was amazing here. Highly recommend it..

I don't know why this is not a five in every person's review because it is perfect. Food, service (thank you Dino), wine, noise level, lighting & over all experience. Definitely on my favorite list when we are in San Francisco. Oh yes, the view of the bridge is just the cherry on top!!!.
Sorry Chaya Brasserie has not uploaded menus.

The cod is nice here. Try the litchi cocktail with it. End it with the cheese cake. The blueberry caipirinha was a bit too sour for my liking..
I don't often bother to write reviews, but our experience here was particularly excellent. Ignore the views for a minute -- I'm sure they are great but it was dark and I didn't pay much attention. We ordered a selection of appetizers and small dishes, including sushi rolls, duck confit sandwiches, cauliflower, beet salad. All were very good, and the waitstaff-recommended bottle of sake was an excellent accompaniment. We moved on to a half-bottle of Sancerre, which was equally impressive. In an interest in taking advantage of their half-price deal on wine bottles in Sundays, we shared a rib eye steak. It was perfectly seasoned and perfectly done, between medium-rare and rare as ordered. We will definitely be back when we are back in SF! Oh, the service was top-rate as well. We ate in the bar area, and it suited the four of us fine -- no space available in the dining area when we walked in. Reservations recommended!.
The atmosphere and view are great here but I found the food to be average and uninspiring, especially the sushi. The duck was cold and I did not like corn kernels and Brussels sprout fragment on my scallops. These seemed mundane. The wait staff is excellent..
Exquisite. Everything here is perfect. The atmosphere, the service, the food. Chaya has it all. The sushi is fantastic, and the cuisine is high quality. The plating is artful. Even the servers treat serving like it is an art form. You will be missing out on a one-of-a-kind experience if you have the chance to dine at Chaya and choose not to..
Terrific Happy Hour. Dinner in the main room is a bit too frou-frou for me, so I turn left at the doorway and head to Happy Hour. It starts at 4 and runs all night. The most popular sushi items are included along with a few standard bar options like mini burgers. There is a rotating selection of discounted drinks to go along with the food. I always feel righteous enough to spring for the chocolate bread pudding for dessert..
Mixed feelings........ I have driven by the restaurant many times and finally made it in. I was so looking forward to the whole experience. From the outside it looks like so much fun being that it is on the Embarcadero with a view of the water and bridge. We were put at a small table not too far from the door. I felt crowed and the people at the next table were so close they might as well have been eating dinner with us. The wait staff was very good and the atmosphere is dark and sexy. The bar area I must say looked to be more appealing to have a drink and some sushi. The food was good and I really enjoyed the duck. I do plan to go back and give it another try. Maybe some sushi at the bar with cocktails on the next visit..
So I had no idea what to expect going here, I had just b een told their sushi was some of the best in the area, bay area! I don't do sushi, so I usually end up with chicken teryaki going to these places! SURPRISE! The menu was so much more & for a restaurant that has sushi as its identifying feature, I had the rib eye steak, that was well above average! As always, the ambience is what draws me to or back for a dining experience! The low murmur of conversation! The sight of people crossing paths for a night on the town! To the satisfied smiles of said peoples looks after a very good meal! A japanese tint in the menu, a dim lighted atmosphere leads to a very inviting peace & calm as you start the evening! Highly recommended especially for you sushi lovers as I was told!.
Impressive. Great location on Embarcadero near the Ferry Building, and some of the tables have a view of the bay and the Bay Bridge. I went for lunch and the service was impeccable, and the food was great too. Not cheap, but well worth the money for the quality of food and service..
