Rude man works here. I would have posted a food pic but Grumpy rudely scalded me for taking a pic. So, sorry no pics for you to see. He was also rude to my companion and another remake staffer. If he doesn’t like his job he should leave. He could have spoken politely to all of us. Food average. Coffee average. Provisions and ambience very good
Quick friendly service – great coffee and speedy toasted wrap – wouldn’t stop anywhere else when heading to Hobart
Not good veggie fare. The caf is an awesome environment and looks great but the food has been disappointing. I have had a cake there which looked a lot better than it tasted and the gourmet roasted vegetable toasted focaccia was pretty yuck – rubbery eggplant, sloppy capsicum, stick-in-your-throat whole, soggy spinach leaves and ‘soft cheese’ which there was not much of and tasted a tinge blue to me. very poor quality and disappointing for vegetarians. how about some delicious roasted (really roasted!) pumpkin, capsicum, pinenuts, tomatoes, finely sliced greenery, feta, or swiss cheese or cream cheese, or pesto, or tahini, or grapes, or hommous, or any number of other delicious things that are not the ubiquitous rubbery eggplant!
All of the reviews so far are pretty much spot on and represent our visits so far. Had a recent stay and thought I would have a relaxing coffee, enjoy a cake for morning tea, read the paper and peruse the awesome fair of food, wine, and condiments on offer. Only problem with that plan is once again the entire building was SO cold..!! It was 12 degrees outside and yet it appeared no heating was on inside. Nor was the fire lit. So instead of a 30-45min relaxing morning tea it was a skull the coffee and get out of there as quick as possible. Four times we’ve dropped in now and four times it was freezing inside. Disappointing considering how nice the place actually is
A lovely spot to refuel your tummy when travelling around Tassie. Very comfy, historic, spacious ‘dining’ room complete with chesterfields, antique tables and chairs and even high chairs and chalk boards for the smaller diners. Good, simple savoury fare and a wide selection of cakes, slices, muffins and sweet treats. The front section also stocks snacks and fresh foods for those needing to stock up the pantry or car snack box.
Average. Great atmosphere, fossic for food finds, food looks great, however I had the famous vanilla slice and a long black both were average. They did have some dairy and gluten free cakes which is good
Best cafe and providore in Tassie. Food,, wine and best of all the coffee Delicious food and cake. A relaxed atmosphere and a cosy fire. What else do you need. Fantastic
