Bolognaise is a bit plain, the bread on it is pretty good though. Fish and chips & lemon tart are above average. Pepper steak pie is average.

I thought it was great, food was good and the service was really nice and quick. I got a toasted panini & tea. I would certainly come back here.

WAIT IS TOO LONG – Zeps provides both cafe & takeaway experience. Since we had no littlies we opted for lunch at the cafe section. The menu is HUGE & varied (pasta, pizza, delicious sounding mains & light meals) and the desserts looked amazing. We opted for something light so we could have dessert. I had toasted chicken pide & hubby, a ceaser salad. The wait was too long for the light meal (it is premade), almost 35mins. My pide was nice, hubby’s salad was sad pile of lettuce on a shallow dish. Dessert took 20mins to come from the glass cabinet to our table, so service non existent. Although sunshine dessert looked & read spectacular on the menu, it was dry & guggy. The wait spoiled our initial positive impression of the cafe. Coffee was fine.

Zeps cafe is open today despite Good Friday holiday. The place is packed despite eight o’clock in the morning. We ordered some chicken meat pies, hot chocolate. Raspberry moose cake and chocolate moose cake to go.The pies are very delicious, crusty on the outside and juice on the inside. It is not too savoury like any other pies out there. We ate one in the car and the other one hours later at the peak of cradle mountain. The second one didn’t lose it’s crusty skin and juicy yummy meat. The moose cakes are also in prefect balance between sweetness, sourness and the deepness of dark chocolate taste.Bottom line: Great good. Good service. Good value for money.

Zeps is pretty much the only choice on the road between Launceston and Hobart I am told. I started early and stopped for breakfast. First off, the coffee is a decent drop so that is a plus. The road side stop can be Russian roulette. My omelette was pretty good – light enough but let down by having a slices of ham folded into the middle. It being Tasmania I did expect decent pieces of local ham. Otherwise Zeps is serviceable with a range of cakes slices etc and a reasonable array for breakfast and lunch on the menu.

On a very busy day for a small Tasmanian town the staff was just great and customer service did not suffer. I tried the beef burger and the fish and chips. The beef patty was delicious and the burger overall was fantastic. The battered fish was crispy and very tasty. The tartare sauce was pretty good as well. Dessert wasn’t as good though, pastries were too hard for both the strawberry tart and the mille feville. Taste was ok.
