Excellent lunch in beautiful surroundings. Chef prepared fresh ravioli which was superb, and a decent sized serve. Also had a yummy apricot crumble and coffee to finish. My little dog was permitted to sit quietly beside us outside on a glorious summer’s day. Definitely returning to this lovely venue SOON. We also saw a sign saying they are open for dinner some nights. As it’s not far from where I stay at Kempton, we might be tempted…..Carol, Ron and Bonnie dog
Well presented place, friendly staff & nice enough food but it was pretty overpriced. I’ve never seen a meat pie for more than $6.50 yet here it was almost $20.
We stopped off for a late lunch on Sunday and this wasn’t a problem. We had delicious soup, a steak sandwich, apple and date crumble and a Devonshire tea. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We also enjoyed checking out the displays in the old stables.
We had an unbelievable French inspired meal in this small quaint village of Oatlands – some of the best food we’ve had in all of Tassie. My wife & I loved our entree, main & desert & this was after we spent a week eating out in Melbourne.
History Meets Modern in Oatlands. The Stables Licensed Restaurant is located on the Main St of Oatlands. Set in a stone constructed building, with attached 1832 stables, with antiques for sale. Very unique. The dining area has an old petrol pump as a centre piece. As the site once was a service station. The dining area is large, modern, light and bright, with a large open fire. The kitchen is open plan, over looking the dining area with an 1800’s coffee grinder. Very functional. An Al Fresco area in the front of the building with umbrellas, stone seating, sets the place off. Out back a very spacious walled court yard complete with original well and hand pump. The lunch brunch menu, along with blackboard specials, makes for good choices. We had a very nice coffee and a delicious cake. All very relaxing and pleasant. Opening hours 9 to 4.30pm 7 days, open for diner Frid & Sat evening. A very good call.
