Lovely location and drive, very serene and lush. Staff were amiable, attentive and helpful. The scallop pie was good but perhaps a little overhyped for the $8 price tag. The spinach and ricotta roll was good. Will always visit on the drive from Devonport to Hobart, its a good pitstop on the long road.
This lovely country bakery bakes all their bread in a wood fired oven. We stopped in for lunch and had wonderful meat and salad sandwiches made with chewy crusty sourdough bread fresh from the wood fired oven. We also tried a mars bar slice and an eccles cake! It was just delicious and the coffee was reasonable. The staff were really sweet too.
Really country style bakery. Apparently this bakery was in one of the Japanese comics so it was popular with tourists. Scollop pie was’t the best but Vanilla slice & other sweets were really nice. Staff kind & polite. Shown me inside their bakery & they got one of the oldest ovens. It was really nice to see the ambiance & country style bakery! Overall rating 4.5*
We stayed in Ross recently and walked the very short distance to the first of three bakeries in town. At the Ross Bakery Inn we supped on Scallop pies and apparently the BEST VANILLA SLICE in the WORLD (that’s what the sign said anyway). The Vanilla Slice was actually really yummy and worth the $5.50 paid. The scallop pie was an interesting experience with a lot of woodfired, flaky pastry with a hint of curry and scallop. If you are in Ross, be prepared to put on a few pounds as you eat your way through the town starting with The Ross Bakery Inn! foodiemookie.com
stopped too soon and mistakenly thought this was bakery 31. Didn’t mind the mistake. The scallop pie wasn’t out of this world, pastry was good and curried scallop was acceptable. They claim they make the worlds greatest vanilla slice. I won’t go that far. In saying that, it was good.
Friendly, and the vanilla slice is lovely… Met the owner who showed us the special oven out back… Great place for a stop on our way to Hobart…
Great pies and friendly service! Always come here during my trips to Tasmania! You must try the vanilla slice as it is simply the best! Also the chicken pies are very tasty as well!
