We came for dinner then came back the next day for brunch. Dinner was delicious, the staff were friendly and coped well with us (a group of 4 somewhat fussy eaters)! We all polished off every morsel on our plates. The wine selection showcases Tasmanian wines well, and the desserts were awesome. Dinner prices are mid-to-high, but the brunch the next morning was almost ridiculously cheap for the quality. The bacon and egg roll was spectacular, the poached eggs are equally gorgeous. If you can’t afford the dinner you MUST do brunch at least!!!
Waitress ignored my request for dressing on the side and the side order of mustard – restaurant was empty except for us. Thats said, the chicken burger was acceptable – but the fish looked better.
Nice restaurant for such a small town. Service and food was a little slow, but given it is winter and there was only 1 chief and the owner there, it’s to be expected. Food is expensive, but that’s consistent for Tasmania! Would recommend to others visiting St Helens.
Don’t walk in at 11.02am and expect you’ll get to order breakfast. And lunch doesn’t start until 12.00pm so there’s a 1 hr gap of any food orders. Real pity (and really strange) as the food and menu looked extremely appertising. Shame the staff were so inflexible too. Given it was a Sunday morning and with staff penalty rates you’d think they’d actually want customers. So we went down the road to the crepery that were only too happy to serve us
Surely best place in St Helens. We only stopped in for quick breakfast and coffees after a night in St Helens, but were surprised at the quality of coffee and food was spot on. They bake their own bread, so I had eggs on delicious fluffy toasted rye. Nice modern decor, would have liked to eat dinner there one night.
You forgot my order!!! I …. You forgot my order!!!I sat there waiting, waiting, waiting!! Fortunately my tea was really good, and served without the pretensions some do. But still I waited! Finally the manager came and asked if I was still waiting (silly question really). She came back and said my ticket was lost, she would comp me the tea and it would be 5 mins. Then it turned up! Looked good! Good size, plenty of hollandaise…promising!then I tasted it……YUM!!As I devoured it, I came to the conclusion it is the best eggs benny I have had in tassie!! Everything was perfect! Despite the fact you forgot me, I loved it!!
Amazing breakfast. We had breakfast here on our overnight trip through St Helens and wow, was it amazing!! The coffee was fantastic (difficult to find in this part of the world) and the country style ‘Big Breakfast’ not only was ample and delicious, but very reasonably priced for something of this quality. Each ingredient was delicious, from the crispy shredded potato to the bacon, tomato relish with beans and poached eggs. Would definitely recommend this as the hidden gem of St Helens and would certainly go out of our way to visit again on our next trip to Tassie.
