From order to getting the meal was 58 minutes. It appeared to be two staff. This was very disappointing, all the other customers were in the same situation. Very poor not worth the wait for what was fish and chips. Give it a miss. By the was it was even more disappointing the it was frozen out of a packet. Not good enough for a city know for greasy food.
Ordered. Waited 20 minutes to see everyone after us get their food. When asked. Was told its getting ready. Asked for a refund. Ended up being given a bunch of $2 coins and no apology. Worst place in Australia for fish and chips so far
Disappointed. Counter menu advertises Bass Strait calamari rings with shoestring fries and romato sauce. Not till I’ve ordered and paid high price (for this plus scallop pie to heat at home) do I see that’s the kid’s menu. And it’s $7.90 which is way less than I paid. Get to scenic location and find I have 8 crumbed squid rings, a bit of lemon and a little tub of sauce which is as tasteless as the squid. Wasted calories!
Grappled a cold seafood platter to take down to Kettering for a romantic night in a wood cabin with my partner. Was excellent. I chef made it up on the spot and even put it in a poly box with ice to keep for the day while we went to some wineries.Have 2 dozens oysters, prawns, salmon, fresh sashimi tuna, marinated octopus. All were fantastic. Will go back here next time I’m in Tasmania.
I need to caution everyone looking at this page that the address Consitution Dock, West Hobart does not make sense for the obvious reason that Constitution Dock is not in West Hobart but central Hobart. The Mako Seafood that I’m reviewing is the one in Constitution Dock, which, as the owners of Mako Fresh Fish in North Hobart are at pains to point out on their website, is not the same or even affiliated with Mako Fresh Fish. On appearance alone, the two are as different as chalk and cheese.Mako Seafood in Constitution Dock is your usual Fish and Chip joint next to a water feature, though I would say they are probably above average in that particular category and this can be confirmed by their sizeable queue compared to competitors in the proximity. The reason being – Bruni Island oysters, and amazingly fresh ones at that. I’ve never tasted oysters this good and I don’t think I can ever go back to eating regular oysters again. Le sigh.
