This is more of a 3.5 stars. A simple, no fuss place for some typical Malaysian dishes with rice. For less than $10 you can get a decent plate of rice with a couple of dishes. Options are various curries, vegetable dishes, egg, fish and others. The quality of the dishes aren’t fantastic to be honest – for example, the chicken curry is quite dilute. However, for the price it’s a decent place for students living nearby to get a cheap, decent meal.

Easy to find as it’s close to the tram.

Not much to say about the decor. It’s pretty basic and as it has an open kitchen, just beware that your clothes might smell slightly after that.

There’s no doubt that the food is cheap. I had the nasi lemak with chicken curry and it cost 10 dollars. However, it just did not hit the mark. Maybe I ordered the wrong stuff.

The staff were polite and friendly.

Norsiah’s Kitchen is one of those places with simple, home cooked Malaysian dishes. The service is always welcoming and efficient.
The bain marie offerings change regularly but I usually go for the chilli chicken or fried chicken. You can ask for the curry sauce/gravy to be poured on to the always generous amount of rice. $8 for 2 meats and 1 vege on rice….now, that’s value for money.

This is another cheap eats place! The Malaysian food is authentic and full of flavour! The portion is also quite big for such a cheap price.

It was indeed a surprisingfind that is very close to the CBD. The meal combos are a great value for money, and the portions are good too. As a first timer, I was a bit confused with the dishes because the staff did not communicate properly. So I would suggest that you ask them what each dish is before they could serve you. Remember to take cash with you, as they do not accept eftops.

This is a cash only place. Tried the Roti Murtabak which was like a thick paratha with chicken fillings along with curry & Nasi Goreng Kampung this is a must try dish it tasted like Mumbai Fried Rice only thing is ask them not to put the dry fish topping.Great Value for money Food.

  • Melbourne Digest

Conveniently located just opposite Lincoln Square tram stop, Norsiah’s Kitchen is an Indonesian/Malay style eatery that serves mainly eat-in out of Bain-Maries. It is an almost heartwarmingly family-style outlet. Ordered their beef nasi lemak which is made to order and received a standard nasi lemak dish where nothing could be faulted.
