We had a great night at the Olive Jar. Loved the ambience and the service. Our meal of soup and carbonara was delicious. Also enjoyed the desserts- tiramasu and the salted caramel pudding. Love how they serve the pasta in its pan and the tiramisu from a bowl. It’s as close to home cooking as you can get without being at home. The night was capped off by a sing-a-long of classic Sinatra, Elvis and Dean Martin songs. Contrary to the previous comment we loved the unique decor- it’s warm, quaint, cosy and inviting. Don’t change a thing. Who wants to go to the ubiquitous contemporary restaurant settings with their sleek fittings and cold spaces? So for a wonderful dining experience, get yourself to The Olive Jar as soon as you can. BTW, they also responsibly cater for gluten free diets.

OK … this is the way we see it as experts on traditional southern Italian cooking …. >>>we have just clocked 55years in the food tasting business . Of course everyone has an opinion on restaurants and their way of cooking … But , one very fine and clearly understood detail has to be pointed out here .>>> Authentic and casareccio all’antica home cooking and presented alla casalinga food is what is widely served in typical trattorias in Italy and incredibly loved by all , by simply going back to basics with genuinita’ e organici CIBI presented alla casalinga … having said that … this is what has being presented to our team on our very last visit to the southern Italian regions … As True to our word and expertise , we found that the Olive Jar is offering such wonderful experience … Extremely happy all rounder and great find . Good work to you all and thank you.

Have been told by the in laws to try this place for awhile. We all had pasta, couldn’t go past it. All was very good served up in pans. Entree we got the antipasto, which was a bit over priced and full of mostly pickled vegetables which we weren’t overly impressed with. Definitely worth trying out. Service was also very good and atmosphere was quaint and fun.

I am a regular of this great little restaurant in Carlton. I love it here… Food is so good…simple but very tasty. The prices are reasonable so group functions would be ideal here as you get great food great entertainment at a great price!!!! Everytime I dine here the service is A+. The atmosphere decore is country style rustic and has that real traditional style. Don’t read any other reviews!!! I am a very fussy eater but this place is so homely and true to Italian food that I recommend you check it out. The speciality is home made pasta made infront of you omg amazing. I rate this place 10 stars if I could. Authentic nothing like these modern places around..The Olive Jar is a great find. Truly delicious. Well done. Love your work

What a hidden gem! You owe it to yourself to have a break from Lygon St and taste some genuine, authentic homestyle Italian cuisine made from the heart. Wonderful ambience, quick service and staff who make you feel very welcome. Looking forward to our next visit soon.

My friends and I were heading towards another restaurant when we happened upon this place. It had a vibrant atmosphere and a great looking menu with alternative (gluten free, etc…) options so we decided to take a chance. The food and service were both incredible, it felt like the headiest of meals one would have with their best friends/family! Apparently they have music some nights so I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

This is a lovely restaurant serving good quality food. We had the antipasto platter, pasta and tiramisu, which were all beautiful. The atmosphere was also very lively.
