Amazing. Authentic Mexican. Great service. It’s easy to tell the owners are passionate about the food they serve. Great Mexican soup. Great everything.
Heard from friends about this place and jade and I decided we would try it, best decision we have made the taco buffet will be a monthly treat I’d say, service was amazing and food was fresh. The family like atmosphere was a true a pleasure and good vibes only in the restaurant. I recommend this place to everyone but it’s very unique, you will have to try it to understand what Im saying. Enjoy!
Awesome! Love this place. Affordable and super delicious! Love the fresh ingredients, authentic food, and finally something other than chain food! Owners are super friendly and offer right away to show you how things are done!
You arrive, get a seat preferably the one under the picture of the owners grandfather. Then the owner or his wife come out take your beverage order and then it’s off to make your taco or your personalized tortilla soup! The action is simple you have your soft corn taco shells and your fillings, rice, chicken, corn, zucchini, potatoes, beans, pork, grilled onions. Then you move on to the toppings onion and cilantro, home made spicy salsa, homemade guacamole, homemade pico de gallo, to name a few! Same rule applies for the soup except there’s tortillas and soup broth to start! This place is like being invited into there home! And then if you didn’t think it could get any better they have ice cream for dessert! Again out of !!P.S. I drove all the way from Edmonton just to eat here!!
Love going to this place when I’m feeling especially hungry. The owner has an obvious passion for his food and his business. Staff are always friendly and working hard to keep the tasty food topped up. I enjoy being able to add another restaurant to the list of amazing vegan options in the area.
Service: Greeted and welcomed very warmly as soon as we stepped in the door. First time visiting and was politely shown how to maneuver the buffet and how to make the soup properly, this was much appreciated.Appearance: The restaurant was clean and the bathroom was also clean. The buffet itself is not the prettiest to look at, crock pots are used for the soup and some of the chafers could use an update, they have loose handles and seem a bit unstable. It is also on the dark side and a bit more light would brighten the place up.Food:Lunch: We went at lunch time, I am not sure if it is different at supper time, so this review is based on lunch.Soup – My bowl of soup was made for me by the owner/chef, chips on the bottom, soup broth and then certain items added from the buffet, jalapenos, pico de gallo, a spicy sauce and a touch of sour cream, this soup was good and had a lot of levels of flavor, my only complaint was that it could of been a bit hotter in temperature.Taco Buffet: Soft tacos are kept in another crock pot and then there are chafers with the following: corn, beans, chicken, pork, mushrooms, potatoes, zucchini with other vegetables and rice. Also there is a cold selection of pico de gallo, onions with cilantro, jalapeno peppers, guacamole, spicy sauce, lettuce, and sour cream. You make as many tacos as you want and the price is $15 per person. For the price you get lemonade, soup and the taco buffet and there is ice cream also available.Taste: The pickled jalapenos with onions and carrots were delightful, so tasty. The cilantro and onions combo was great because I could actually taste the cilantro. The spicy sauce is actually spicy. Overall the combination of different tastes and the different types of spiciness made great tacos. The ingredients seemed mostly fresh (I question the mushrooms, they seemed canned, but I could be wrong).Go Again: Yes, I am not sure if they do something different for supper, the above was great for lunch, but I do not think it would be great for supper.
Soup was great, tacos were great, lemonade was great, ice cream was great, price was great. Only hiccup I saw was they only had mild pico or spicy salsa, nothing in the moderate category. Went with a friend who’s from Guadalajara and he approved, so you know it’s authentic. Overall a great meal.
