The atmosphere and food was fantastic. However, the experience was ruined by the service and shady business practices. The woman who was serving us blatantly ignored us and showed a preference to the older, richer looking people. At the end of our (a group of four) meal while we were paying, she keyed in her own tip without consulting us whatsoever. Probably won’t be dining here again and she missed out on at least a 25% tip.
The kleftico (slow roasted lamb) was as fabulous as recommended, tender and tasty, and the entree portions were huge. We both had leftovers and then some- we most likely could have shared an entree and had room for dessert. I did take a dessert home – which was like a galakto bureko -custard in phyllo pastry but called a special name like felici’s special dessert.they don’t have the dessert menu online so I can’t see that. We started with crab cakes and they were very fishy tasty (ie old) so I’d avoid those unless they can assure you the crab meat is fresh.I would visit again if I was a local- I was visiting from out of town and by happenstance, asked the hotel server about a good Mediterranean restaurant nearby. Turns out it was a short distance from the hotel by car. Family-oriented; good for locals, large and small groups and pairs. Very bright dining room and clearly generations of people have been going for awhile.
Authentic Mediterranean restaurant in central Richmond, what a gift! We ordered Sauteed Seafood with mushroom sauce, Prawn Souvlakia, and Calamari. Calamari was our favorite; squid was tender not tough and the breading was just right. The Sauteed Seafood was 3.5/5; rice was flavorful with carrot chunks, seafood was okay except the salmon which was dried, but the presentation wasn’t that appealing because the mushroom sauce gave a dull color to the whole dish. I liked the prawn in souvlakia which was flavorful. Service was great, water is always filled. I would definitely come back for the calamari and try their meat dishes such as the New York steak.
Tonight, out of laziness and indecisiveness, we decided to order a platter for two – the Felicos Platter ($44.95). It came with a little bit of everything: Greek salad, hummus, shrimp cocktail, chicken and lamb souvlakia, crab cakes, calamari, rice, vegetables, and potatoes. Whew~ long list!Unexpectedly (lol), the food didn’t come as one giant pile. Instead, our platter was served as a two course meal: salad & appetizers, and then the rest.Overall, the Felicos Platter was tasty and filling (especially if you top off with a basket or two of pitas). Our favorite item out of the platter was the crab & shrimp cake. It was buttery, hot, and well-seasoned. *Drools*. We would prefer if the lamb souvlaki wasn’t grilled to well-done, but it was still tender and moist enough. The calamari was lightly-breaded, so we didn’t feel guilty at all about overindulgence.
Meh. This place is not terrible, and my food was properly cooked (I.e. Mostly not over cooked), but it was highly underflavoured. There was enough salt (maybe a bit too much), but my garlic ouzo prawns had no noticeable garlic flavour not any really noticeable ouzo flavour. The seafood chowder was adequate for a cheaper restaurant, but not great. At least the wine was good.
Never been here before. Came last night. Was sat by Lady in front of restaurant. Waited 10 minutes for young Chinese girl to take our order. She could have helped us right away but was gone for 10 minutes. The lady who sat us then took the people behind us order first. When they came after us to the restaurant. The girl didn’t light our table candle. The other tables candle was lit. We then got our food after the people who came after us. They brought us out our appetizer. Which was then taken away because it was the people’s behind us who ordered it FIRST. We laughed at how ridiculous this restaurant is. Worst service ever. Food was gross and not cooked well. Server needs better work experience. No wonder this restaurant isn’t busy when we came on a Saturday night
