came here during dinner, and place was okay, not busy nor packed, just the right amount of people maybe 2/3 available tables at most when i got there, and being recommended by friend, i have to try a lot of items, luckily i went with another friend who can eat a decent amount as well, ordered 5 items i think for 2 people, i was surprised of the beef tartare dish that’s in the resturant, it was good, well i personally like it, that’s something that you’ll pull in a french restaurant type of dish, never the less it was good. the fried chicken was good as well, and i was very full afterward i think for regular people you’ll spend around $20-$25 in here. big parking space and awesome service as well! mangkr.wordpress.com

This restaurant is a great hidden gem. It’s much larger than it appears from outside and is very clean and open. The staff is really friendly and accommodating; they were worried that a table adjacent to ours was too loud so they moved us to a quieter spot without us even saying anything. The food is top notch. I had the bibimbap and my husband ordered a pork cutlet with rice and salad. Both meals were delicious and gave excellent value for money. There were a number of menu items that caught my eye, so we will definitely be back to try other dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Korean food in Coquitlam.

Pocha Korea is great late night Korean Restaurant in the Coquitlam area. The restaurant looks like it used to be a dojo or some sort from the outside but is quite modern and cozy on the inside. There is always music and the accompanying youtube video being played on two projectors on opposite sides of the restaurant. There is ample parking as they have their own dedicated parking lot in front that is largely vacant. The restaurant can seat approximately 50 people comfortably with tables nicely separated so you won’t feel squished. This place has a good flow of customers so you’ll never be alone but it’ll also never be completely packed. We’ve been here numerous times before and service has always been friendly and prompt. We are usually given a booth and our menus immediately. The menus are a bit hard to navigate as there area 3 separate menus to choose from. For this visit, we choose to order the Took Bae Gi Bulgogi (Bulgogi soup). It comes with some banchan though the selection is limited (generally onions, seaweed, and kimchi). The Took Baegi Bulgogi tastes amazing. It is packed with bulgogi, raw egg, veggies, and a some rice cakes! The broth is very beefy and smooth. Everything about this soup screams comfort food that you would order on a cold rainy day. It comes with it’s own rice that you can combine with the soup.Though it isn’t pictured here, we would highly recommend ordering the soy sauce fried chicken. They are hearty pieces of boneless chicken that are deep fried and the spicy soy sauce it comes with is phenomenal. We would recommend this restaurant as a late night option when other places are typically closed. It serves good quality food while still being opened past regular hours.Make sure to like and follow if you’ve enjoyed this post!

This place is fantastic. The service is also friendly and prompt, the restaurant is clean and well maintained and, most importantly, the food is delicious. The stews and soups are particularly tasty, especially on a cold day. The well known Korean dishes like bibimbap, soy chicken and rice cake are all really yummy. They make their own kimchi in house which you can purchase to take home with you. A real gem in an area where there are quite a few Korean options, but this one is by far the best!

Going out for lunch on my birthday, back in mid-December, had to be postponed. We (my lady, daughter, and I) were finally able to coordinate a date just recently, and Pocha was my pick for the venue. I spotted the restaurant from the Lougheed Highway, and with a simple turn left, and up and into the parking lot, we were there. The lot was totally empty … was the restaurant closed? … thankfully, that was not the case, we had just arrived ahead of their opening time of 11:30am. We were inside, seated, and ordering from our friendly, and most-helpful young male server in just a matter of a few minutes. I had taken some potential menu item suggestions with me, which really helped a lot, as the menus (two of them) are rather long, and it would have taken quite some time to order (at least for this, our first time dining there). Here is what was ordered and shared:– Ojing Uh Butter Goo Yi (grilled, butter whole squid): squid is a big favourite of daughter and I, and this preparation and presentation was perfect – the whole squid sliced from tentacles to tail, and then re-assembled as ‘whole’ on the plate, and served with a dipping sauce. Good looking, fresh, tender, and tasty. — Yaang Neom Tuk Dong Saan (crispy rice cake, in sweet chili soy sauce): the rice cake presentation looked much the same as tried in other Korean restaurants, but was prepared a little differently, with the sauce a tasty, sort of sweet & spicy, and the textures of the cakes a little chewy. Colourful and tasty. — Soon Sahl Gaan Jaang Chicken (crispy, deep-fried, boneless, soy chicken): wow! what a fantastic preparation of chicken – breaded, nuggets of boneless chicken, crispy on the outside, wonderfully tender and sweet on the inside, with such a flavourful soy-based sauce. So well-prepared, and so tasty.– Dol Sot BiBimBaab (purple rice, sliced meats, and salad, in sizzling stone bowl, w/bowl of stock on side): I ordered the bibimbaab mostly to get some rice and veggies (what the Koreans usually refer to as the ‘salad’ in their bibimbaabs), and ordered one prepared in the stone bowl, for the ‘sizzle’ and extra taste these preparations seem to provide – it came to our table looking great, very colourful, nice aroma, and sizzling away. A fine addition to our meal – colourful and very tasty.– and the supplied banchan (side dishes) of kimchi, seaweed, and fried onions. And an example of the fine service we received, our server took the dishes away, and replenished each of the contents, without any asking or prompting on our part, when ‘he’ noticed they were getting empty! My belated birthday lunch at Pocha Korea Bistro was a fine treat, and big hit with the three of us. Good food and service, and friendly staff — a much-enjoyed first time visit, and we hope there will be another soon!
