Got what I expected from a chain restaurant. Nothing special but nothing awful either. Was driving down Lougheed on my way to Cactus Club for happy hour when I saw a sign for Sammy J’s. I thought why not? Restaurant was practically empty, but I didn’t mind… we got pretty good service because of it. The bloody ceasar was nice and spicy and the appetizers were what I expected. Hot wings, ribs, and popcorn shrimp. The wings had a nice flavour but the skin wasn’t crispy enough. They tasted more like baked wings rather than deep fried. I love fried crispy wings… The ribs fell off the bone but we’re slightly dry. The dipping sauce recovered this dish. The shrimp were the best of the three. Nice crispy coating and soft inner shrimp. The sweet chili sauce worked well. At about 6 bucks a dish I can’t complain. Decent happy hour but I wouldn’t pay normal price for these dishes.
