This place used to save my university life especially at night when I’m starving. They run open till 2am or 3 am back then, and I really really appreciated. But when it comes to food, and the quality it’s not really good. The sushi is below average and I didn’t enjoy their sushi rice either – very inconsistent and too much rice in nigiri. Because What a Sushi was my life saver I want to give 4.5/5.0 but for the food itself I can’t help but giving them 2/5. sophiaeats.com
Failed to deliver properly and cheaped out on resolving the problem. I had our sushi delivered from this place. It was our first time ordering from them. We live in the bottom part of a duplex, so I left a note specifying which door to go to.The food was to be delivered in approximately an hour. About an hour later I heard the doorbell go off for our upstairs neighbor. Usually the delivery guys make this mistake, never reading my instructions, but the neighbors usually redirect them to the right door. When this didn’t happen I decided to contact just-eat.ca since we had placed the order through them.At this point the food was 20 minutes late. The rep at just-eat.ca said that the restaurant was running behind and that it would arrive in 5-10 minutes. I figured the neighbors must have had someone else drop by their place. After another 25 minutes I went to contact just-eat.ca again, but they were a little busier, so I had time to notice a note saying that if your order was late you should contact the restaurant. So I called What A Sushi. At first they said they’d never gotten my order, then when I gave them my address they said they’d already delivered it to the front door. That’s my neighbor’s door. Apparantly my neighbor had taken the food that was offered to them, and since it’s pre-paid through just-eat.ca they weren’t out anything for it. The delivery guy hadn’t even checked the name on the order before leaving it with them.I don’t know my neighbors very well, so I wasn’t sure if they had taken it on purpose knowing it wasn’t theirs. My brother texted one of them asking after it, but he wasn’t home, so he didn’t know why his roommates took the food.I didn’t want to start a confrontation with them, plus the food that was supposed to be hot was undoubtedly cold by this point, so when What A Sushi offered to remake the food I accepted the offer.2 hours and 45 minutes after we had placed to original order our neighbor that had been away from home got back, and found out that his roommates took the food thinking that he had ordered it. He brought the untouched food down to us, but of course all the deep fried food was soggy and cold.Almost immediately after the delivery guy showed up with our food.He must have gone to the front door, as he found out we had gotten the original order. He still came around to the backyard, but still managed to go to the wrong door (it’s a duplex). We had to call to him from our door to get him to us. He stood by the other door and asked if we’d gotten our order. He didn’t have any food in his hands.I agreed we’d gotten it, but went inside and grabbed the Ika Karage that we’d ordered and showed him that it was cold and soggy, as an example for all the hot things we’d ordered. He went back to his car and grabbed the fresh Ika Karage, and for some reason a couple containers of regular sushi, which wasn’t a problem since it’s supposed to be cold.Meanwhile my brother stayed at the door waiting for him while I tried to quickly grab the Agadashi Tofu and the one deep fried roll we’d ordered to show him what else needed to be replaced, but before I could make it back to the door the driver dropped off the 3 things he’d grabbed and took off without checking. He absolutely cheaped out on replacing out order, even though it was entirely his fault, and left us with cold soggy food. The whole ordeal took almost 3 hours to just get our order and we didn’t even get our food replaced properly, let alone any kind of compensation for the event.I would definitely never order from them again.
Good good & good service. A little bit on the pricier side for what is it though.
Good food but Jacked the prices to much >:(. When they first opened I was estactic! Sushi DELIVERY! How rare, and with debit at the door woot woot! The prices were great, portions great and the food was quite good, except a small handful of items I would not order again. For sushi delivery I was just happy they were half decent! Then ordered just recently again for the first time in quite awhile. HOLY MOLY who jacked the prices!? My usuall $50 order was $64! In all fairness, the food was awesome this time, yummy, but prices have gone up way to much, when I looked at my bill there was a big difference between my take out menu and the prices:GOMAE up from $3.25 to $3.95 = XTRA $1.40 when ordering for twoIKA KARAGE up from $3.95 to $4.95CHICKEN KARAGE up from $3.95 to $5.95ASST TEMPURA up from $7.95 to $8.50BEEF TERIYAKI up from $8.75 to $9.50FAVORITE COMBO up from $8.95 to $9.95 WOW!,,,,These aren’t just .10 or .25 price increases these are .50 to $1 and even $2 increases on some items! Not very smart, leaves you feeling very ripped off.I see that they have made the common mistake to shoot themselves in the foot by increasing prices to try and make more money when in fact they just end up chasing away the customers they already have. Boo :(Ps: do NOT get the gyozas, yuk! Or the chicken teriyaki
My boss who lives in Yale town met his parents after shopping at Ikea and he said it was the best he has in along time…the price is great also my 12 year old grand daughter loves it!!
After some Ikea shopping my mom and I decided to check out this place as it was in a convenient location up the hill. A small space at first glance with roughly 6 tables we were sat right away but a very nice and pleasant young lady. She was very friendly and offered us a table of 4 as we also had my young, 7 month old son in his car seat. After browsing the menu we orders; miso, ebi sunomono, pork gyoza, tempura, Cali roll, tuna roll and a salmon roll. Everything came out fresh and quickly. The rolls were nicely out together and the hot items were a nice temperature. Nothing was greasy or bland. Their menu was plentiful with lots of options including Donburi bowls and Teryaki plates. The service was prompt and friendly. Overall we were pleasantly surprised with this little sushi place. We had a late lunch around 2pm, there was just one other table but it appeared as though they were enjoying their lunch. There were also several delivery and togo orders we saw go in/out. I would definitely recommend this place. It was a nice experience after a hectic day of shopping.
