Sugar tiers habitually offers Groupon deals for the afternoon tea service. I couldn’t pass out the deal and decided to check it out.I have to be honest. For what you pay for you get a lot of food! Like you better arrive hungry! I also love how they added an Asian twist to the traditional afternoon tea set. I particularly loved the minature curry meat triangles. They were crispy on the outside but warm and savory inside! I also adored their mini rice burritos. It consisted of fragrant jasmine rice, smothered in a yummy satay like sauce with a small wedge of an boiled egg in the middle. So delicious! Next item I loved in the tea set were their petite mousse cakes. Both the lychee and taro were done very nicely. I loved the texture and the naturalness in the fruit flavors.The only thing I didn’t like at Sugar tiers was the tea and in all honestly it matters here because I am here for afternoon tea after all? I would recommend they use loose tea varieties as oppose to store bought tea bags. Next item that didnt blow me away were the macarons. It was very dissapointing in fact. They were very hard and didn’t have the light crispy exterior that macarons should have. The inside was very sweet with tough sugary peices. Next topic up for discussion is the ‘experience’. I found the staff lacking a personal connection. We were greeted and said hello to but no one came by really periodically to check up on us and we were the ones asking for assistance during our stay. For me it wasn’t a big deal because I rather like the privacy while I chatted over tea but not everyone is anti-social like myself. They were all busy at the back baking and decorating cakes and I suppose that distracted them to some degree. Which is understandable.All in all I enjoyed the tea experience at sugar tiers and I would come back to try their cupcakes and specialty cakes! Don’t get the Groupon deal. The Groupon indicated value at $42 but there is no way it is worth that nor the $22 I paid and you have to pre-order it to be pick up at another day and can’t pick the cup cakes u want… Groupon was for their mini cup cakes while their regular cup cake is $2.5 , a dozen regular cup cakes would still less than $42…I agreed the servers are cold and not friendly at all. Mini cup cakes tasted horrible and the regular one was better .
Has horrible customer service, and got ripped off from groupon. Don’t wast time or money. I bought the groupon, and the sweet where ok, but the service where bad and way over priced.
I purchased a Groupon coupon for a dozen mini cupcakes with cookies on top for $19. It came with 3 flavours only: 4 vanilla, 4 chocolate & 4 red velvet. They were tiny as stated MINI cupcakes 🙂 but tasted good & moist. All of them covered with chocolate and a little bit of sprinkles instead of icing on top. It’s good & got a good deal from Groupon otherwise I would not pay full price for that.
So i purchased coupons from Livingdeal.com for dozen macaroons. i later realized that it expires in less than 2 months of purchase and i never got the chance to redeem them. why would you only allow 2 months to redeem items?? i’m disappointed.
Fabulous Cakes and Cupcakes!. I’ve been going to Sugar Tiers for a year now and they’ve always provided me with excellent customer service. Not only do they have the best cake in town, they also go above and beyond to fulfill my orders. I always order our cakes and cupcakes for our birthdays and company events from Evalin. They get two thumbs up from me. Highly recommended!
