What happened. A place that used to be a family go to for a good meal, great service has changed completely.From the moment we walked in; there was a smell about the restaurant. My husband thought burning inscence; I smelt cheap bathroom soap. We asked the waitress (who had no personality) if she could make a shirley temple; which she said she could and came back moments later that she could not make it. My husband and I ordered french onion soup which was definitely boxed with white process cheese melted on it (it was hot but not no flavour) We also ordered salads; my husbands was meteocre. Mine was completely wrong (ordered a beet and goat cheese salad) Tossed salad showed up with Chicken.. I asked where the beets were; the waiter then brought out a bowl of terrible beets for me to place on the salad. Not much of an apology along with it. We wasted $75 on this dinner and need a redo on our anniversary dinner and will never be back again. Thoroughly disappointed and can not see this restaurant being open much longer!!

Thought it was a perfect place to take my party of 7 out for Moms Bday. What a sad decline in the menu and service. I should have known the second I walked in – the place was empty. The food, wine and service belong at a dive of a truck stop somewhere where the most expensive thing is $5. The great place that was Delainey’s is gone. I dropped $250.00 on poorly cooked meat, raw potatoes covered in burnt garlic, and bag salad with dressing served in a plastic dixie cup. There are so many great places in Guelph I will never return.
Had the village salad with shrimp. Too much dressing and nothing special. Restaurant could be something special but looks like it hasn’t been updated since the mid 80’s. I was there on a muggy day and they must not have had the air conditioning on as it was very uncomfortable atmosphere. Face lift needed if this place is to survive. Will not be back.
Sadly, new owners have taken over. The great restaurant Delainey’s was, is no more. Rare/med steak came out well/well done. Forgot the mushrooms on top. Roasted potatoes were lily white & hard. Very disappointing. Not worth the increase in price.
The best steak I’ve had in Guelph!
$20 for a pint of delicious local beer and a perfectly cooked steak sandwich. No complaints here.
