Don’t be fooled by the location. This gem is hidden in the back of a Hasty Market right by Davisville Subway station. I’ve so far only tried the Chicken Shawarma but they also sell lots of other foods like Jerk Chicken Stew and various Indian dishes. The Shawarma sandwich is served within in a huge Markouk bread that apparently comes from a bakery in Montreal. They give you a more than ample amount of toppings and meat. They have the oh so essential homemade hot sauce and turnips that I expect from a good Shawarma spot. The wrap is sooo big that I have yet to successfully eat a whole one in one sitting and most times just go halves with my girlfriend.

This is my go-to place for takeout on those nights I don’t feel like cooking. My favourites are the falafel or the pad thai. I tried the cheese perogies for the first time today and they were quite tasty. Prices seem a bit high for some items, but the flavours are legit.

I have worked in the neighborhood for 4 years and their takeout food is consistently amazing, not to mention their selection of fresh salads. Coming in under $10 the price is not even an issue, it is the most affordable place for an authentic home cooked meal in the neighborhood. My favorites are the butter chicken and of course the chicken shawarma, a strong candidate for the very best in the city, I haven’t had another one like it and that goes for many people judging by the crowd it draws.

Disappointing, small, pre-packaged, over-priced offerings. However, it is conveniently located within a Hasty market and apparently their Shawarma is delicious.

Delicious Food. A must try!. Ive been a few times to the Flaming Stove and what I love about this place is the variety offered in their menu, the freshness of the food, consistency of deliciousness, and attention to detail. And the prices are very reasonable. Lunch time is very busy, so go early to avoid lineups. They have a different menu every day and theyve recently added Shawerma to it. In the past, Ive tried items from the Caribbean day (Thursdays) and the beef burger (Mondays). So, naturally I had to try the Shawerma Simply put, the Chicken Shawerma was fantastic and mouthwatering! It was shawerma with a gourmet twist. Instead of pita bread, the owner/chef used sauge bread, which resembles a large wrap. After filling the sauge with the shawerma and toppings, it was crisped up and the result was heavenly flavorful bites of spiced chicken, a topping here and there, homemade sauces and crispy sauge wrap. It was quite filling and the best part about the crispy sauge is that it doesnt get soggy from the sauces. The Shawerma is offered daily from 3 PM onward (because of all the other tasty items on the menu), except on Fridays, where the Shawerma is offered starting at noon. From the Caribbean menu, I tried the curry chicken and jerk chicken and both were amazing! The curry chicken is offered stuffed in a roti or with rice. As for the beef burger, it tastes home-made and very succulent. I will definitely go back for more of these tasty items The Flaming Stove is tucked in the back of the Hasty Market on Davisville and Yonge. The entrance is actually from the Hasty. Happy feasting!
