What a dive, we went in there hoping to have a couple of pints and a nice hearty feed. We had one drink then left. The place was far from clean and the drinks were stupidly priced, one handle of beer was $6 on happy hour and a shandy was $9.50!! Who charges $9.50 for a shandy!! Would definitely not recommend it, i am sure there are some nicer local pubs on the island that would appreciate its customers a bit more.
My family and I have a house in Surfdale (Waiheke) which is literally two minutes from this particular pub. It’s great for indoor and outdoor seating. Nice area and very authentic. The crowd that goes here is a bit on the older side but they’re absolutely lovely and are a great chat! The few times I have been here … I have been met with the same rude bartender who seems to automatically assume that because I am younger (21 now but 18-19 at the time) I will start trouble or something. Nothing but absolute attitude and snarky remarks. I compliment her on her hair while ordering a drink (reasonable prices considering the island hikes the cost of everything up) and she rolled her eyes and walked off. Ouch. Lezbihonest I was not hitting on her… I just liked the shade of red it was. Other than that… food and drinks were decent BUT the company is the best 🙂
