I never imagined I will have the privilege of sampling African cuisine until I found The Queen of Sheba. If you are looking for a unique culinary experience – look no further. This small but beautiful place is very welcoming place with excellent staff and management and the best food that this city can offer. They have a big menu to choose from and every dish will surprise you and leave you wanting more! They are very generous with their potions and they are extra generous with injeras. They also serve wicked African beerI highly recommend this place to you all of you are a group of friends or family. Enjoy the experience

BOOK AHEAD. And be prepared for a delicious feast- the food and service is fantastic, the menu caters to meat eaters and vegans, and the atmosphere is perfect for a cosy (albeit, a little messy) intimate meal.

Had an amazing experience at Queen of Sheba. The staff are really friendly, the food supremely tasty and the ambiance is authentic. I cannot recommend this place enough. You need a spicy palate to enjoy this type of cuisine. Go forth and enjoy.

I must say it’s never been on my bucket list to try Ethiopian food, but now that I have I’m all the better for it.I’ve also learnt about the Queen of Sheba as a result and (hate to break it to you) she may not be Ethiopian (!).Wherever she’s from originally, its nice for her to have set up shop for good in Kentish Town.Inside, the decor is distinctly Ethiopian with wooden carvings and ornaments adjourning the walls and there’s no doubt the food is also a little different.Dominating proceedings is the Ethiopian, sour dough flat bread called Injera. It’s lovely spongey texture is perfect for mopping up the other dishes which also come served atop of injera lined trays. We (Sarah M ) started with some fried chilli injera which was lovely with a sour and bitter taste, but ultimately proved unnecessary given the proceeding carb loading. For mains we had a vegetarian selection with three dishes, one chickpea, one bean and one potato which were all very tasty. This was accompanied by a deliciously rich lamb curry that we injera’d the hell out of.We were left well and truly stuffed which was a good thing given it was slightly on the expensive side. Still, well worth a visit for a change of culinary scene and the Ethiopian beer is good too! londoncurryblog.com

I was really excited to come to the Queen of Sheba – very happy to have finally made it after living in the area for a year and a half. I’ve always walked by, thought the decor looked great and told myself I’ll come one day.The atmosphere is chilled, with an amazing incense smell greeting you as you walk through the door and 5 tables filled on a rainy Tuesday evening. Staff are attentive and friendly, clearly showing care and passion for the food created by this family-run business. After visiting Lalibela just up the road, I was hell bent on having the baked crisp injira for starter as I really enjoyed that there. Here it wasn’t anywhere near as crisp, but had a good flavour. Warning – it’s veeerrry greasy. We were keen to try a few different dishes for our main, but the mixed meat sharing dish for 2 was 40 alone, so we went for the hot lamb stew and a mixed vegetarian selection for 1 to share between us. The lamb was amazing, and a large portion, and we had an amazing time using the injira to pick up our stews and mix the different flavours. For such a unique cuisine, I think it would’ve been good if the menu had a mixed meat / veg platter at 30 as we definitely would have gone for that and been able to try more flavours. All in all – go, enjoy, try the spicy lamb. whatsarahdoes.com
