I was invited to a Yelp Elite event that took place at this restaurant. Its a pretty fun and chill underground restaurant that serves up some great food and drinks.All dishes were served family style to shares. Got the chance to talk, eat, laugh, and drink with some great people.Many dishes were brought out to try. My favorites of the bunch were the scallion pancakes, the fri chicken (fried battered chicken) and the Sichuan spicy cold noodles.I learned something during this event…and what I learned is I need to step my CHOPSTICK game up big time LOL. It was quite a battle between me and the chopsticks and I’m sure it was highly entertaining watching me try to use them. Chopsticks – 1 | Ray – 0. I’ll get it down for the next one haha.Three different brands of Baijiu was served as mini shots and were pretty strong. I’m now a fan. To end the event, sweet fried sesame balls were served.I’d happily visit Peking Tavern again for any occasion. Excellent Chinese cuisine.Visit Date 7/26/2016
My sister and I stumbled upon this place. We were dressed horribly from moving and unpacking all day yet the staff and manager greeted us as if we were celebs. The Chinese salad is a must try and the dumplings are TDF -the woman making them was sitting behind some glass directly behind our table! So cool. The atmosphere of the inside is really cool as if you’re in a little underground but semi upscale pub. And as a side note- I totally expected the bathrooms to be dingy but they were super pretty, modern and clean!
