The last downtown eatery. Hands down the best place I’m aware of in downtown to get a decent meal at a non-ridiculous price. Expect to leave having spent 8-15 dollars and having received an honest to god sandwich (and/or soup) that isn’t frozen crap from sysco.Simple flavors with big results is this guy’s MO.When there are specials, my advice is to order it, whatever it is.. because that often means you’ll be dining on whatever they came up with from a farmer’s market score. The heirloom tomato sandwich was a delicious example of such a special. The TACM is my favorite .. turkey avocado cheese melt.. its more fun to pronounce the acronym than it is to eat… almost. The mint-lime-aide is pretty awesome too.. it may tempt you to go find some white rum for an incognito mojito to go ; fair warning 😉
Small in Size but Big on Taste!. I was working in Downtown LA and decided to talk a walk on a nice sunny day, which led me to a little lunch place that doesn’t standout – at least when it comes to decor. Sandwich Shop is clean and spartan but it makes up for its lack of glitz with super tasty cheap food. The Miso Lemon Chicken Salad is a yummy mix of mesclun greens, cabbage, sliced toasted almonds, grilled chicken, cilantro and sesame seeds. The dressing was light and flavorful. Two thumbs up for Sandwich Shop.
