Hands down the best fried chicken you’ll taste in LA. And I’m a southern boy, so I know my fried chicken. Absolutely delicious.
Great fried chicken, and cheap!. The chicken was amazing, and I didn’t feel completely stuffed afterwards. 4 of us got a family pack of 8 pieces, plus biscuits and fries. They actually have a honey dispenser next to the hot sauce and bbq sauce dispensers – that’s huge in my book. After drenching my biscuits in honey, I dipped my fries in it – unexpectedly delicious!Make sure you get extra napkins 😉
Great Chicken, Bad Sides, Bad Service. I agree with many of the reviewers here that Honey’s Kettle has some of the best fried chicken in L.A. It’s crispy, juicy, and flavorful. It’s how fried chicken should be made. That being said, it’s debatable if the restaurant is worth visiting for the chicken alone. The service is consistently slow, no matter what time of the day you visit. The sides are unremarkable– they don’t offer many, they tend to go heavy on the mayonnaise (which I don’t like), and the pickles are sweet (which I don’t like). Furthermore, the prices are a few dollars more than comparable places like, say, Popeye’s.
What Service?. Can’t complain about the grub…the rice was creamy smooth, the chix was hot and moist…Coke served in those retro-bottles ($2.50). I just ignore the service, or lack thereof…figure I’m in a HIGH-PRICED KFC.Prices SUCK…$40 for 2-2piece with rice…and a 3-piece dinner with drinks…thats TOO MUC.Parking is non-existent…seating outside is filthy
Like It But So What. Like many other reviewers here I find the service to be absolutely horrendous. The kids working there seem lazy and uninterested in providing good services and have constantly gotten my order wrong. What I’m ordering is not out of the ordinary. I complained and was was asked by the owner why I’m so difficult and if I didn’t like it I could go somewhere else which is now what I’m doing.
Awesome fried chicken but crappy service.. Fried chicken! mmmm! thus far honey’s kettle is my favorite favorite favorite fried chicken in LA. however, as mentioned by a few other yelper’s, the service is severely lacking. if the chicken and biscuits were not so damn good, i would not think twice about going back. but…… dammit, the chicken and biscuits are seriously that good for me to put up with all the bullcrap i encounter with the lazy kids that work at honey’s kettle. they’d rather goof around and bust a move behind the counter than fill orders and help customers.however, i found a way around this. call your order in and pick it up 30mins later. this gives the kiddies behind the counter enough time to pop their ritalin and focus on putting together an order for pick up.honey’s kettle would have received a higher ranking if not for the help they choose to hire.
Great Party Food. Wherever I’m going to need to serve 12 or more in a pinch I pick up a few boxes of their chicken and it’s good even when it’s cold. Just make sure they don’t give you your big portion in metal containers, that steams the chicken and ruins the crisp. I like to get a big ol’ thigh then walk over to Tender Greens (next door) and order a salad to go with it. It’s a great lunch combo…
