Crazy good meal. Love it! !
Great Pastrami and Great Memories. Flew down to Culver City for a memorial celebration for the great Gay Japanese-American pioneer, Tak Yamamoto. He also organized the Manzanar Pilgrimage for many many years and was a major voice for Internment Reparations. After the service I became nostalgic for the long summer days we spent on Venice Beach ending at Johnnie’s with a great Pastrami Sandwich. Same great Pastrami, same firepit, same tabletop jukeboxs and same fun atmosphere. Wish the bread was better but the waitress was GREAT, the service was immediate, and the fries were the best with moist interiors and crunchy crispy exteriors. Took two sandwiches back to Seattle and they tasted almost as good cold at midnight after the flight home as they were hot, while the memories remained.
Great food. Quick service. Amazing pastrami subs!!!
It’s good no relation to the one on Adams which is better. The service is quick and the fireplace outdoors is a bonus at night.
Yum Yum Yum! Proud to have this rest in my hometown. I love the pickles, the chili cheese fries (no onions) the service and the atmosphere. Give this place a shot. Oh FYI: cash only!
MemphisExile. Wanna great experience? Buy a pastrami sandwich and some pickles before you fly to Mudville, it’ll drive the passengers coo-coo. Be sure you get the pilot some or you might get kicked off.
Good place to go if u have cash and enough of it. If you are looking for a good pastrami sandwich look no further than johnnie’s. Though it has a few drawbacks it’s still worth a shot. For a better overall experience however I would try Cole’s downtown. Their sandwiches, though smaller, are cheaper and more delicious. Their pickles are also better. Johnnie’s is still not bad though. Pro’s: – quick service – good pastrami french dip – interesting atmosphere Con’s: – cash only – location is a bit seedy – price-y
