A friendly, sunny place for lunch. We were greeted and seated immediately by the smiling host. Someone took our drink orders immediately and the rest of service was equally efficient. A decidedly French lunch menu with all the bistro classics, but if you can’t live without a burger and fries, you can get that, too. The salad Nioise was beautifully presented with just the faintest blue ring on the otherwise perfectly cooked hard boiled egg. Green beans were a little soggy but flavorful. Nice greens though there was a faint taste of being past prime. And lots of tasty anchovies. The lobster risotto was filled with big chunks of lobster and was well seasoned. Wine selection limited. Fair prices. A good choice if you’re in the interesting neighborhood.

Crappy croque madame.. Eh, this place was ok.i met up with a couple friends for brunch at la dijonaise on sunday and luckily the only group waiting for a table was a group of 7 and there was only a 4 top available so i snagged it. woot!my friends arrived a few minutes later and we immediately began to inspect the menu. my eyes were immediately drawn to the croque madame and i knew that i had to try it. a swiss & ham grilled sandwich topped with a fried egg….how can you go wrong with that? i had one in nyc at midnite and it was mighty fine….and i hoped the version at la dijonaise would rock my socks.the service was quite attentive to start and our drinks and food was brought out in a timely manner. however, once our food arrived the waiter disappeared until he brought the check. dude, how hard is it to check in every so often to refill our drinks? you are a SLACKER!onto my croque madame, the sandwich looked mighty good but once i cut into it, i knew something was amiss. the bottom piece of bread had the consistency of ice cream as it was extremely mooshy and unappetizing. bah! someone goofed in the kitchen, or my sandwich sat on the counter waaaay too long. the croque madame was a disappointment. however, i was able to salvage my meal and eat the sandwich sans the soggy bottom bread. had the sandwich not been extremely soggy, the meal would have been pretty good……alas, my attempt at a french brunch at la dijonaise ended up with me scratching my head……..soggy bread and slacker waiter = a crappy start to a great sunday.
Coq au vin! Absolutely amazing and cheap!!!
