J. ROOD. Have been there several times and always had good food until the last time about two weeks ago. each time i,v had the baby back ribs. this time the ribs were tough and stringy and the potato skins so hard that no one would eat them. waitress apologized and took them back but brought back what looked like the same ribs. took them home and threw them out a few days later. new cook ??
Food Bad. Drinks Good. Atmosphere good. Tried Cool Hand Lukes in Madera. Was optimistic because waitress was very nice, menu was great, and it was a nice restaurant, in sort of a dismal city. Was so disappointed. Prime Rib and tri tip were terrible. Overcooked and flavorless. Tri tip even tasted dirty like the grill needed cleaning. Potato skins tasted old. Only good food were the sourdough rolls. they were warm and fresh and very good. Atmosphere and service were comfortable and drinks were great. Just avoid the food at all costs. Just terrible food.
Early dinner tonight at Cool Hand Luke’s. Lot’s of groceries at a modest price point. Good place to feed teenage boys. OK food, definitely not diet friendly. Don’t bother with the abbreviated wine list, this is a cold beer kind of place. One of many places inspired by Chick Brooks, great local entrepreneur. Also behind Huckleberry’s, Yukon Jack’s, Perko’s, many other central Cal spots. Son Randy B. running the show now.

Cool Place to be. This is my unofficial hideout! Chillin’ and grillin’ I like to refer to it! Great skirt steaks, with all the trimmings and then some! Can’t get my family to leave………
The best prime rib ever! took the family and everyone loved it. Service was outstanding and you must try the Rinestone Cowgirl.
