Fiance and I tried the place out and it’s pretty good. They have a good selection of meats and the bbq sauce is pretty good and not as sweet as most places. Sides are typical and ok and service was fast. Will definitely be back next time we’re in the area.

Decided to try Lucille’s after hearing so many good things about the food. Let me say the place looked nice and the air was thick of bbq. We sat down and placed our drink order and an appetizer after about 5 minutes. After finishing our appetizer and noticing the table of 5 ( who came in after us) had received their food we had expected ours to be out soon. Well we were wrong! The server(who claimed to have been there for years!) forgot to put our order in. I wish I remembered his name but he didn’t have the guts to admit he screwed up until I approached the manger. By this time our kids (5yrs& 10 months) were on the brink of being done. We informed the manager that we were leaving. What pisses me off is the fact that it wasn’t that busy and the server could not do his job. The manager offered to comp our meal but said it would be about 15 min, we declined. We are sadly disappointed and will NOT ever go back. There are too many other places we can go for bbq.

I lived in St. Louis for 10 years and sampled BBQ up and down the Mississippi valley as well as in KC and Lucille’s has some of the best ribs I have ever had. I went on 2 different occasions and both times, the baby backs were spot on. Sliced brisket was dry, chicken was good as was the tri tip. A little pricey but I think it is a premium for the quality.

It’s mediocre bbq for a premium price. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad. It’s just not good enough for what they are charging.

Take-Out is a big Zero. While this establishment has excellent food and relatively good service when dining in, I recently ordered their family feast for our Christmas celebration. I ordered the meal online with an 11a.m. pick-up time on 12/23/12. At 10:50a.m. as I was walking out the door, I received a call from Lucille’s asking if I wanted apple or peach cobbler. I gave my order and arrived about 11:15a.m. to pick it up. It took them an hour to get my order ready! They had not even started baking the cobbler. Later, I received a call from Josh, one of the managers, asking me to check and see if the family-sized bread pudding had been included in my order as the cook found an extra one in the kitchen. It had not been included. We left a holiday celebration in Vallejo early to have time to pick the pudding up so we had it for Christmas Eve. Also not included in the order, which I didn’t find out until Christmas Eve night when we ate our meal, was the order of hot links that was one of the two additional meats I ordered. The bottle of BBQ sauce was also missing. I called and emailed the restaurant repeatedly asking for Josh at first, then asking for any manager. Neither my calls nor my email were returned. I am disappointed to say the least. A restaurant with good food has lost good clients over poor customer service.

Babybacks. I have been to Lucille’s in Rocklin 3 times this year. I think it will be quiet a spell before I head that way again, if ever. We are a family of Babyback eaters, no doubt. First time there was awesome! We were invited by our son and daughter in law. Next time I invited my brother and sister in law. Best advertisement is word to mouth, correct? Well, we had bragged and bragged before going the second time. We were disappointed in the quality of food as well as service. We just took 3 family members there for a birthday celebration. Again we ordered the babybacks for 4 out of 5 of us. The ribs were over-cooked something aweful. I couldn’t eat the veggies.. The service was as good as it gets with a very nice young man… the food was so bad that had I not had 3 guests, I would have returned 2 meals to the kitchen and demanded better or leave to eat elsewhere. We didn’t want to raise a stink with guests present. PRICE? OVER PRICED!! Next time I will just smoke it myself and eat at home. The costs would have been 1/4 of the cost that we had at Lucille’s. And that would have included desert. We do that often also but sometimes just want a treat not to do the cooking ourselves.

Great food!. This place has excellent service! The staff members are always friendly and welcoming and are well knowledgeable of their menu. The decor is southern style all the way down to your refreshing drinks served in mason jars. The lemon aids are to die for! This place also has amazing ribs! Although it is frequently busy, allowing for a good 10 to 15 minute wait for a table, it is well worth the wait! I enjoy going here for family gatherings or just a romantic date with the significant other. 😉
