This is the first time that I have found anything remotely close to authentic Mexican food in Grand Junction. I was craving Mexican because I’ve been homesick and so I walked into Cafe Rio, I immediately walked out and kept on my search. I passed Tequilas Cantina and thought I’d investigate it. When I was greeted in Spanish it was love at first sight! I haven’t spoken Spanish in months so I became chatty with the waiter. The salsa was great and fresh made. I ordered the lunch portion of chicken in mole and it was delicious! Made in house, authentic and flavorful! I want to go back every weekend to try something else from their pretty extensive menu. Next time I will try their Chile rellen.
DON’T GO TO THE ONE ON NORTH AVE!!!. My husband and I love Tequila’s. We’ve been to many from the Front Range, to Glenwood and both in Grand Junction. All are great, but we consistently receive THE WORST treatment from the servers at the Tequila’s on North. If the manager happens to be there, at least I don’t get ignored. Otherwise, if you’re white they treat you awfully and ignore you.Today is the last time I will EVER go to this one!! The waiter brought us the wrong dish, was irritated that my husband and I were sharing, and that my five-year-old son didn’t order, (because he hates Mexican food). He NEVER came back to ask us how our meal was, or offer to give us more drinks. When we asked to speak with the manager, the NICE woman who brought us our chips, (and ultimately ended up being our server) said she would get him, but our waiter magically appeared and said there was no manager there and he didn’t even know the manager’s name. He then argued with us that he brought us the wrong item, and said he walked by us many times and we should have told him. Go to the Tequila’s by the mall if you’re in Grand Junction! They are exactly opposite of the North Ave location and the food is better and really know what customer service is!
Seriously disappointed in this restaurant. We decided to go here based on reviews, which I will not make the mistake of doing again. The food is not authentic or even good. Bland and greasy. The place says it is a family restaurant, which is also a joke considering how loud and obnoxious people were. They had obviously been drinking a little too much and were breaking glasses on purpose. The staff did nothing to address this. They also ignored the screaming laughter from these people, which made it impossible to hear yourself think. The total on our bill was also a shock – crappy food at a premium price. Will avoid this chain at all costs.
Excellent. Great Food!
Nasty salsa and this coleslaw think that was even worse. Serve was half ok.Onto the food I ordered the carne asada it came out burnt and charcoaled. I know I won’t be back.
My favorite in GJ. There is so much bad un-authentic Mexican in Grand Junction that Tequila’s stands out even though it is not fantastic in any way. I eat there often and for me, It has been very good in food quality, good in atmosphere and good in service & price.
Good stuff. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and well kept. The pricing was good. The food was excellent. The food was tasty. I would go back in a heart beat.
