Below par. We were in the neighborhood on a Saturday evening and ordered a large cheese pizza to go. Only two of the inside tables were occupied, but they were very busy with takeout orders. Our pizza was prepared in about 10 minutes. On returning home and I opened the box immediately and noticed portions of the top were not covered by either sauce nor cheese. The underlying crust was like a cracker and tasted burnt. Overall the flavor was well below I have come to expect after having visited this restaurant dozens of time since it first opened.25 Aug, 2013Lobster tails. I stopped in for a slice of cheese pizza to go and was surprised by the size – very large. It was perfect – nice char, excellent sauce and high quality mozzarella. While waiting for the pizza to be reheated, I noticed a lobster tail in the display case and told the owner that I would have to come back some time when she had more. She said there were more in the back so I ordered 2 to go which my wife and I ate that evening. These were a bit crustier than I prefer, but generously filled and delicious.22 Jun, 2012Best pizza north of Wooster Street. I noticed this restaurant had opened and stopped in today. I ordered 2 slices of cheese pizza to go. The tomato sauce and mozzarella were high-quality. The crustwas nicely charred on the bottom thanks to being cooked in a wood-fired oven though I noticed they use a small conventional pizza oven to reheat it.Overall, my initial impression is this is the best pizza north of Wooster Street in New Haven.
