Happy Anniversary. Jacke was celebrating his anniversary so were took advantage of the discounted prices on the original Jake Burger. The line was long and we noted several parties turning around at the door, but we persevered. We each ordered Jakeburgers and then waited for several minutes for them to be delivered to our table. It is SOP that these are well done, but they remained juicy and flavorful. Overall, I would rate these several steps up from the fast food chains.21 Feb, 2012Rollback the prices. Jake’s Wayback Burgers celebrates its anniversary (February 21st) each year by rolling back prices on the Jake Burger to its original price. We arrived shortly before noon to find a short line and a lot of people waiting for their orders to be filled. We each ordered a Jake Burger at a cost of $2.49. My wife had recently signed up for emails so she also received a free junior shake. The hamburgers were very good and her chocolate/banana shake was delicious.08 Feb, 2012Pricey, but good. I dined at Jake’s again using a $10 gift certificate I purchased online at a 50% discount from the Meriden Record Journal. My wife opted for the Jr. cheeseburger while I ordered the Jake burger (2 patties). We each customized our burgers from a list of free condiments. Both burgers were juicy and our rolls were very fresh. We also shared a delicious, though pricey, chocolate shake. Our meal was very enjoyable, but I find the prices too high to dine here except when I can obtain a discount.21 Aug, 2011Disappointing. I signed up online for special offers and received an email coupon good for a small shake so with coupon in hand I made a return to trip to Jake’s. Last time the Jake cheeseburger (2 patties) was a little too filling so I opted for junior cheeseburger. I was surprised when my name was called way ahead of a couple sitting next to me who had ordered before I even had entered the restaurant. This burger proved to be disappointing as it did not cover the roll, it was dry and overcooked, and, finally, the roll was squished. I now wonder if my burger had been a prior mistake that was just reheated. My small chocolate-banana shake, however, turned out to be outstanding. I will no doubt give Jake another chance in deference to my first dining experience.20 Jul, 2011Very good. Jake’s opened at the end of last year and I had a groupon-type coupon from a local newspaper so we decided to give it a try for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was not all that busy, but because the burgers are cooked to order it takes a good 10 minutes or more from the time you order to when they are ready. You order and pick-up at the counter.I asked the size of the patties and was told each is approximately 3.3 ounces so we each ordered the Jake Cheeseburger (2 patties). You may customize your burger by adding any of a wide variety of free toppings. My wife chose lettuce and tomato while I opted for ketchup, onions and pickle. We also ordered a side of their in-house made potato chips which were very good, but unsalted. The hamburgers patties are taken from the refrigerator and flattened out on the grill. The meat to bun ratio is good and our burgers were uniformly juicy. The bun was not grilled, but was very fresh. We each agreed we could have gotten away with a single patty.Highly recommended as an option to the local steamed cheeseburger specialty.
