  No do-over. My wife and I dined at Lido’s on Wednesday evening and, though busy, we experienced no difficulty securing a parking spot. I have checked menu prices online in the past, but I was still taken aback a little when I opened the menu. I looked at my wife and we both were thinking if it looks too good to be true, it ……….. Our server was very personable and seemed well trained if not entirely conversant on the menu. We chose to take a pass on wine opting for ice water with lemon. Shortly after ordering we received an entire loaf of warm bread fresh from the oven along with packets of butter. We started off sharing a Greek salad and were surprised when asked what type of dressing would we prefer. This should have resulted in our revisiting our order but we recklessly carried on by accepting the proffered balsamic vinegar dressing. The salad was enormous, but the ingredients, though fresh, were 95% iceberg lettuce plus cubes of inexpensive feta, cucumbers, olives and onions. It proved to be beyond mediocre so we barely consumed 1/2 and declined the opportunity to take the balance with us. Our entrees, eggplant rollatini, were gigantic with each sufficient to feed a pair of hungry teens. We also received side orders of pasta, one choosing penne and the other spaghetti, that were buried under marinara sauce. The sauce appeared fresh, but it was largely devoid of garlic, onions, spices or herbs. The eggplant rollatini itself was similarly bland and a bit on the dry side so I requested a side of marinara sauce. Needless to say portion size was such that most diners left with a doggy bag as did we. It is fortunate that Lido’s enjoys a large and loyal following because there is little incentive for us to do a do-over.28 Aug, 2013Pretty. I still haven’t made it back for dinner, but my wife and I were in the immediate area and wanted something quick and light so we stopped by and each ordered a single slice of cheese pizza. The pizza was pretty, as in cheap, quick and good. There are better places for pizza in Meriden, so I am not inclined to ever order a whole pizza here.15 Dec, 2011A pizza discovery. I have been living in the general area for the past 30 years and thought I had tried pretty much every decent pizzaria in the area – wrong. Today I read comments about another pizzaria and the person compared it unfavorably to Lido’s. It was near lunch time so I departed home with directions in hand and was soon parked in their lot. My 2 slices of pizza were nicely charred on the bottom without burning the the topping. The ratio of sauce to cheese was perfect. and the price was an incredible $3.19 with tax. I took home a menu along with a list of specials and am looking forward to returning in the not too distant future for either a pizza or a full dinner.

  Excellent. I go their with my wife all the time , i order the new york strip steak special it is dilicious my wife gets a calozone which is huge , my be that other tribe should try burger king ,it,s down the street
