Not as good as sibling. It has been years since we have been to the original location preferring the larger and newer Cromwell offshoot. There were only 4 other customers at 12:40PM on a Tuesday which surprise me because in days of yore it was always packed. Perhaps we missed the rush hour or maybe the inclement weather held the crowds back. I ordered 2 steamed cheeseburgers with lettuce, tomato, ketchup and grilled onions to go. My wife and I opened the bag in the car immediately and took our first bites. Hmmm. Our rolls were stale, the hamburger wasn’t very juicy and there was decidedly less cheese than we have had in Cromwell.
Juicy burgers. Good burgers, I recommend you try them at least once,
Different!. Steamed burgers were very good, but not really spectacular. Definitely worth a try though.
My friend and I are on a quest to find the best burger. Ted’s was our first stop. After seeing man vs. food an many other shows we had to find out what the steamed thing was all about. The very small luncheonette was still busy at the late hour we were there. The staff moved quickly to the point of inpatient while waiting for us to decide. we were memorized by the little draws of beef and cheese get loaded into the steamer. The juicy beef cheese goodness it worth any road trip. GO… Go now!!For more, other burger reviews and stories from the road check out http://50burgersorbust.com
Dislike.. I don’t do hamburgers so I cannot fairly rate this place. I can, however, rate the grilled cheese. It wasn’t good and one might think: how could ya mess up grilled cheese? It was melted cheese sauce like substance on mediocre bread that I’m not sure was the freshest. Adam Richman’s show steered me wrong from LI to CT.
I had mine with sauteed mushrooms and onions. A great burger for it’s uniqueness. It reminds me of a mini meatloaf! I’d definitely go back.
Good Burgers. It is the healthiest way to cook a burger…. with steam. Very good, and a lot of toppings available. I was disappointed in the cheesy home fries… the cheese was one piece and hard to eat with out your hands. Overall, cool place.
