Fantastic place if you are out that far in the burbs and want to skip chain restaurants. The kitchen is run by the former chef of Chicago’s popular Sunda. Menu is full of great choices. On my visit we ordered mostly seafood. Not to be missed is the absolutely outstanding, melt in your mouth, hamachi tataki with citrus-garlic butter that will make you want to cry. From the Earth section the Filipino adobo style pork belly is a must: rich & unctuous. The service, though, is spotty. We felt rushed through our meal at the beginning because our server didn’t course it out as well as we’d hoped. However, at the end of the meal she disappeared, leaving us waiting for our check for almost 30 minutes. She was very polite though, but definitely seemed overwhelmed.
We stuck to the ocean menu and tried crabcake, 5 rolls and kale salad (must try!) all were delicious. concluded with red velvet molten cake and pumpkin cannoli was a great finish. Cocktails were just ok. Excellent service even though they were very busy (Sat night). Will return for earth experience!
Much Anticipated, Kinda Disappointed. This place was constantly packed when it first opened at Randhurst Village. Now, not so much. The menu is interesting, with options like pork belly and shrimp and grits that we don’t commonly see. The food was tasty, and the price point is fair. But the service is….awkward. Several servers kept visiting our table, and while they were attentive, they were also disruptive. Our main waiter was not terribly familiar with the menu or the wine list and couldn’t make any recommendations. She also struggled to open the wine, and then poured inconsistent servings to our party of four. That won’t keep me from returning one more time – I like the ambiance and am curious about other menu items. The lighting is interesting, and the place looks fabulous at night!
Not impressed. The food was mediocre at best. The service was disorganized. Very pricey and not worth it.
