Gemato’s Wood Pit barbecue is Located in Naperville off Ogden. It came up on my Lunch search and thought to check it out with a friend who was visiting. I thought this will be a sit down restaurant but it is not. Th orders were BBQ Baby Back RibsHalf Slab with Greek style potatoes, baked beans and bread, and Beef Brisket Sandwich with coleslaw on the side. The ribs were tender and melted in my mouth. The beef brisket was very tender as well. The thing I love d,most was thebarbecuesauce itwas not too sweet like many others . That was perfect for mypalate. The baked beans was way too sweet for me , so couldn’t finish it.Only crib I had was the food is served in Styrofoam takeaway container. My friend loved it and she said this was one the the best she had ever tasted in her life.Bottom line, the place is worth the hype
Meh. Tried this place for the first time. Dry chicken with way too much sauce. My husband’s Greek chicken was dry too. Sauce wasn’t that great. Kids didn’t eat their grilled chicken or burger. Sticky tables and flies flying around. Worth one try but won’t be back. This place could be nice with a little more tlc.
My expectations at first were flying high and after reading some reviews and seeing some of the pic’s that were taken of some of the food I felt we had to give Gemato’s a shot. We went with some friends for dinner I ordered the Gemato’s combo dinner which consists of beef brisket, chicken, ribs and two sides I choose the Greek potatoes and slaw. First I’ll start with the ribs. They were soggy barely any smoke flavor and just had aVery strange taste to them . Brisket, the worst I’ve ever had! Again hardly any smoke flavor and they drenched them in bbq sauce so not to be able to tell the difference. I felt I was eating pot roast over cooked. Chicken was dry no flavor again drenched in bbq sauce. Did I mention OVER PRICED!!! I can’t recommend this bbq restaurant, but if you want bland food go right ahead.
Gematos BBQ is a hidden Gem near downtown Naperville. You will not find better ribs or Greecian Chicken. They have Stella and Two Brothers on tap, big screen TVs and great customer service. Only thing I would change is the Mac & Cheese; it is Kraft Easy Mac. I definitely have faith that they can create their own Gematos Homemade Mac & Cheese. In fact I challenged them because I know it would be great.14 Jun, 2013This place is one of Naperville’s premier BBQ restaurants. The attention to details is what sets this restaurant apart from others, couple with their authentic recipes. This restaurant receives nothing less than 4 stars.
Above Adequate. Meat done very well, moist and tender. Brisket very tender. Chicken also moist and tasty. Good smoke. Friendly, staff. Would like to see a choice in sauce.
Exceptiovery ribs, very nice owners, memorable experience. Gemato’s ribs are fantastic! We had a great experience and memorable meal.We had an impromptu gathering of twelve people and needed a great meal fast,. Gemato’s was exceptionally helpful. We had a phenomenal meal in 20 minutes that everyone raved about. The owner and his team were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!
Same Good Ol’ Quality. We lived in Naperville six years ago and were delighted to find that this restaurant was still in existence. We both always get the greek food..hubby loves the souvlaki and me the gyro’s. Nice to see this restaurant hasn’t fallen to the thieves of the economy and have maintained good quality food and friendly service.
