Update July 2017:As per the comment section I have indeed made return visits to Don Juanz and have been quite impressed, especially when the owner is present, the food quality comes way up! I even detected more seasoning on the fish and a more complex flavor especially from the green (Verde) salsa. The restaurant is gaining traction in Shreveport, I believe they have a winner on their hands… Original Review: To save time I could cut and paste my review of the Bossier location, I won’t but you really could. The new Shreveport location has all the same pluses and minuses of the original. In a nutshell; fresh high quality ingredients in a clean modern beach themed atmosphere, just missing the mark a bit on flavors. The little tiki hut bar and patio are a nice addition, but the dreaded (for me anyway) walk-up order counter remains. I know the owner was trained up in the seaside fish shacks he emulates. It’s hard to believe that those places are as tame with the seasoning on the fish and have as bland of sauces as Don’s does. Not to say it’s all bad, chips are fresh, thin and crisp and the fish is cooked properly. Nice place, friendly staff and right across from Whole Foods!
