A Salad Bar In west Shreveport!. Wow who would of thought you’d have to go to a truck stop to get a salad bar? While it’s not Jason’s Deli their salad bar is fresh, (usually) well stocked and has a fairly decent amount of options. The buffet is also a surprise, again usually fresh with some surprisingly good entrees including fried chicken on most days. 3 or 4 entrees are accompanied by several vegetables, mostly fresh cooked. The soups are another high point, usually made in house and quite good. The desserts are for the most part forgettable. The service I’ve encountered has been good with some very nice people working. I have heard that the menu items can take a while to get to your table and as the other review states there is some very good chicken fried steak to be had if you go that route. Overall I’d choose Iron Skillet over most other West Shreveport options. It is a truck stop so you’ll see some interesting characters from time to time, and lunch can be busy with oil field workers but it’s worth a stop.
