Update February 2017There is now a sign by the road and a real menu.Business is still slow so some menu items may not be available, not good but understandable. I’m pulling for them but side items need to step up and some menu items may be overpriced. Original post: So glad someone has re-opened the restaurant inside what was the Holiday Inn now the Ramada Inn on Shreveport’s west side. Even better is that someone is a super sweet dedicated chef looking to branch out from her catering business. For starters the hotel and restaurant are in better shape than their last days in the Holidome era, no more bad odor when you enter the door. Chef Shamus is a very gracious host and has great passion. The menu is very limited, I do hope that changes thou I know there needs to be the crowd to support that. Right now she is offering basically 2 daily specials usually encompassing a salad, soup and sandwich combo and a build your own pasta dish and or a featured entree. I thoroughly enjoyed her chicken and dumplings on my first visit. It was brimming with chunks of white meat chicken and small somewhat dense dumplings in a great broth. The Cajun Chicken Salad Sandwich was also a treat thou the accompanying salad would benefit from fresh tomato or other vegetables. The house made garlic aioli made a very good dressing, I hope chef will create more choices in the future. The once thriving buffet line still stands in the restaurant as well as the empty atrium bar. There is potential here IF the Ramada steps up and remodels and advertises. This restaurant was once very active at lunch time with business people, locals, hotel guest and oil field worker converging on the buffet at noon. I hope the Ramada doesn’t expect the restaurant to pull in a crowd on their own, there isn’t even a indication on the outside that there is a functional restaurant inside.
