Interesting place. Went for the first time a couple of weeks ago and while I wasn’t able to sample the food, I did have a few drinks. Drinks are hit or miss…nothing to rave about, but I definitely like the laid back atmosphere. Not clubby and I can hear people talking! Imagine that! That being said, there were probably five of us total in the place, so I’m wondering how exactly they stay in business. Video poker only does so much.

Sadly Maurice’s is GONE. I pulled into the carpark of this charming, though somewhat out of place, building and was taken by the fine European styling of the wrought iron fencing. I should have been suspicious when I saw the LARGE Club Rules sign, but I shrugged it off. I opened the door and looked around to an empty bar and many equally empty tables. I was greeted warmly by the dear lady behind the counter; easy when you are the second customer in the place. I asked somewhat innocently if the kitchen was closed and was told in an unappologetic tone that it was closed a year and a half ago…it was just too much trouble. So no goulash any more! Wish they would just change the name of the BAR!

Hungarian Goulash. Very tasty. Generous serving. Not available any place else in Shreveport to my knowledge.16 Apr, 2010Maurice’s Old Vienna Eatery. I don’t believe there is another restaurant in Shreveport or Bossier that serves German and Austrian dishes such as Wiener Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, and Paprika Chicken Nudel. Not only are the entrees delicious, appetizers such as Asparagus in Aspic and desserts such as Cheese Kuchen make our meals at Maurice’s very enjoyable. Prices are reasonable and service is always good. Maurice is a great chef.

A disappoitment. Food was only fair. Portions were small. The price was high for what we got.
