I have eaten at the Silver Star Grill two times. We used to drive over to the Texas Street Steak House often and it was so great. The best steak, great home made french fries. A Caesar salad to die for. No bar tender during the day though so to say did did not know how to make drinks is an understatement. So, we just did not order drinks. Even when you told them HOW to make a drink they did not do it right so we gave up.When they opened in Shreveport we were really excited. Oh me. First time I ordered a ribeye, french fries and a caesar salad. Steak was dry and had NO flavor at all. French fries tasted and looked like frozen fries. Not even nice an brown like the old place. And the caesar salad was weird. Did not tast lke caesar salad at all.And a rectangular table, hard to really talk. And lots of tall tables furthr up which we do not sit at. Weird. And we were there middle of the afternoon and the music was so loud we could not have a conversation at all. Add to that weak drinks and I think you get the picture. The next visit we sat on patio. Hot, no ambiance. This time I had a stuffed potato. It was fair. Dry and tiny bits of meat that you could not even taste. Very disapointed to say the least. Needless to say we have not been back.Price wise way higher than the old place and did not touch the delicious of Texas Street. Sad. A real let down. You would have thought the food would be the same. I even called and asked if the food was the same and was told it would be. NOT. And DONE.Shreveport, you need another steakhouse. This one in the Kroger parking lot is a total loser. Just new and expensive. So now I do our steaks at home and they ARE good and my drinks are solid. Hmmmm, maybe I should start taking reservations. Ha! I do wonder if the owner has eaten over at the Grille? If not I think he needs to drop by there and check it out. It is a loser all the way.
I am so glad this place is finally close to me. The menu has plenty of options and you can’t go wrong with any of them. The Crabmeat augratin, combo platter, and kabobs, are all top notch. The staff is attentive, bar is nice and restaurant is spotless.
