I thought it was strange there were so few people in the restaurant, but later figured out why. The waitress was not the most pleasant person…never a smile. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteaksandwich. It took a longer then normal time to get our order. We did not get a refill on our drinks. The sandwich was not cut and was smothered in what appeared to be Cheese Whiz. I couldn’t cut it nor eat it like a sandwich. Pretty tasteless. Horrible! No tip for the crappy service and absolutely will NEVER come back here again! This was the worst restaurant I have ever experienced!
Good home style food is to be had at Smokey Joe’s Cafe at Sam’s town Casino on the Shreveport riverfront. I have had okay food at Smokey Joe’s, but this trip I fared much better.Smokey Joe’s is filled with big booths as well as the tables found at most restaurants. The booths are very comfy. We dined late, but there were still a dozen tables being served at the late hour. Our server was friendly and funny, I’m sure it was close to her shift end and she was in great form. Our sweet teas came served in a mason jar, and that was a nice southern touch. I ordered the Southern fried chicken plate with green beans and loaded mashed baked potatoes. The potatoes sounded so good I had to try them. My companion ordered the chicken fried steak with baked beans and fries. Our meal was cooked to order so it was 20 minutes to service. The food was quite good. The fried chicken steamed as I pulled a wing apart at the joint, so I decided to let it cool a bit. I got four pieces of fried chicken for $12. Included were a leg, thigh, wing and a keel breast. That’s bang for the buck.I tried the loaded mashed baked potatoes first. This was a comfort food delight. The potatoes had butter, cheese, bacon bits and chives mixed right in. This resulted in a creamy texture that satisfied the palate and piqued the tastebuds. The green beans were seasoned with onions and cooked with ham, with the shredded remains served with the portion. Yummy. The chicken was hot, juicy with a perfectly crispy crust fresh from the fryer. The chicken dredge was country standard, no spicy mixture or departure from the norm. I’m sure that’s because the staff is trying to appeal to the wide variety of out of towners that come to the venue.I was served more food than i could eat and took a box home. My companion enjoyed his chicken fried steak and remarked that the baked beans were very good.If you find yourself at Sam’sTown and hungry, Smokey Joe’s presents a reasonably priced alternative to the buffet.

Pretty awesome, not much variety but if you like the food served it’s AMAZING(:
