I have a love / hate relationship with the Bell that goes back to my Jr. High days. I lived off the stuff in high school and college, I’m not proud of that but finances being what they were… As time went on and my taste buds matured and I was no longer broke I saw less and less of the Bell. Also contributing to fewer visits was TB’s lessening standards even eliminating some of the decent ingredients once offered. However I have a curiosity for anything new culinary wise so today it was breakfast at the Bell. I gotta give them points for fast friendly service at the drive-thou! Food wise, not so good. The grilled taco and burrito both had a nice flavor from the toasted tortilla, that’s were good stopped. Strange bacon like bits and the fake eggs were not pleasant. The most curious item was the biscuit taco, ingenious but a miss flavor wise. I’m most disappointed that Taco Bell made zero attempt at bringing anything new to the fast food breakfast camp. Several of their competitors already have breakfast burritos. TB’s has nothing to offer any different or better. The Bell had a real opportunity to incorporate some new flavors from Texas taco stands or from Mexico itself. Why no chorizo? They had to source sausage anyway, why not bring in a real Mexican breakfast ingredient? Also missing are ingredients already on the menu. Who doesn’t like steak and eggs? For fast food Taco Bell has made a place for itself, breakfast… not so much.
