Fabulous. Had a great experience at Carmelina’s – we stumbled upon this gem while walking around the North End and they went out of their way to accommodate us even though we didn’t have a reservation. Upon being seated, we noticed the wall-mount air conditioner started dripping on us. Without even waiting for us to mention it, they noticed, moved us, and comped our wine. The food was DELICIOUS. They graciously accommodated my gluten/dairy food allergies. I would HIGHLY recommend the marsala filet mignon and pistachio encrusted sea bass. Highly. Great vibe, friendly staff, amazing food.
Here’s the bill, please leave.. Firstly, I’ll start with the fact my mother and I thought the menu at Carmelina’s looked great and slightly unique which is what enticed us to choose their restaurant over all the other Italian eateries in the North End. We were both slightly disappointed by the food given the restaurant he such high reviews and was quite pricey. We ordered the calamari for entree and seafood pasta and stuffed pork chop for main. Despite our disappointment with the lack of flavour in the mains the meat and seafood were good quality. The big let down of the evening was the service. I literally took the last sip of my wine and was approached by the man seating and greeting customers (perhaps the owner?) to please leave because others were waiting for a table. Further the meals were brought out so quickly after we ordered I’m guessing this was to rush people out of their restaurant. I’m sorry but at a bill of $150 for 2 people it’s simply not on to ask customers to leave like that! I expect that in china town when I’m paying $10 for 2 people. In fact I would have left only moments later on my own accord if he had only allowed me to do so. I won’t be returning or recommending this restaurant!
This place was amazing! The food was delicious (don’t tell my Italian grandma but the meatballs rivaled hers), the service was excellent, and the owner went above and beyond to make up for a forced cancellation of our last reservation. Long story short – a pipe burst this past winter and we were given a gift card for $25 a head to make up for the inconvience. We look forward to eating here again… Many times over!!!
Great north end place. It was well priced, well located and food good
I thought it was great. Had the eggplant appetizer and carbonara pasta for the main. Delicious. I’m not a ‘foodie’ by any means but I do know Italian food. Thumbs up. Service was good too.
Whites Only. Don’t bother. Everyone from the servers to the manager wanted us to not come back. Waited 15 minutes before the server came by, no refills of water, no bread even after asking five times, but the tables around us were receiving full service. After the manager listened to our concerns, we could see him and his staff LOUDLY complaining about us and then he just threw the check back to us without another word.
