Dont bother eating here – Terrible service and the food is not that good!. Terrible service and the food is just OK. The wait staff did not tell us if there were any specials on the menu to start with. Secondly, we waited a long time before our order was taken, were still eating the appetizer and they tried to take it away. After we ordered our main meal the waiter did not even ask us if everything was OK, or even asked if we needed anything. When we paid the bill we reduced the tip due to the bad service, the waiter came back and started yelling at us and threw the bill at us and said to keep our money and made a scene. I was dining with my family and was totally embarrassed about how we were treated. I go to the North End all the time and this was the first time in all my years of dining out being treated like we were. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The Italian has left LoConte’s. This was always my favorite restaurant in the North End. Saturday night left me very disappointed. First off the service was horrible. Secondly, don’t expect real Italian bread, instead you get something that’s almost like store bought from a supermarket. Third, the restaurant appears to be creating food that fits the new clientele of today, meaning these young people have no idea what real italian food is and how it should be made. It appears they are catering to tourists that think this is Italian food by labeling as such. Too bad loconte’s has lost its italian ways of cooking.
As a first time visitor to Boston we had been told to visit the north end and this restaurant was recommended. We truly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere but had such a rude waiter who could not answer questions, ignored our table, would not respond when we talked to him. When we asked to speak to the manager he said she was not there. His demeanor was so glum he ruined our experience and I would not go there again!
Terrific! The food was so good and the ambiance was perfect. I brought my work associates and they were raving. You guys made me look good 🙂
Service was slow, but all the good we ate was great (bruschetta, pasta primavera, pesto tortellini, chicken parmesan). Entrees are $15+, which is average for North End, and the portions were huge.
Really basic Italian. Big portions. Share an entree and get an appetizer.
I was very disappointed in this restaurant. The prices were high for what you get. The bread was average. Butter packets instead of olive oil and olives as you get in many other North End restaurants. Our service was poor. Our server stopped by to say hello then, before we could order drinks, move over to another table that called on him. He came back five minutes later as if we were an afterthought. The place was noisy and somewhat casual which is fine except the prices did not reflect that. No tablecloths. People coming and going constantly. We quickly decided that it wasn’t going to be worth buying full dinners, so we ordered 2 apps instead. They only served one, yet attempted to charge us for both on the bill. When we brought it to our server’s attention, he didn’t seem to care at all. No apologies. No asking us whether we needed anything else. We go to the North End all the time, but this is one place we will not return to. I’m sure other peopleay have different experiences but this is one of those places where: don’t ask for too much and you won’t be let down.
