Don’t go to Adega!. There was almost no one else in the restaurant. The employees had to be hunted down for bread, water, additional water, additional potatoes, and on and on and on. The steak had little flavor and could not be cut with the dull knife that was provided. The sangria was overly sweet. When our waiter asked if we enjoyed our food, we told him we did not. However, he didn’t respond to our statement in any way. We will not be returning to Adega Grill and will not recommend it to anyone.

Good food, not so good service. We both enjoy new dining experiences and culture, and so I opted to take my wife to Adega for Mother’s Day. I knew that Portuguese would be a nice change of pace, and so I booked a table at Adega based upon Zagat rating and numerous web ratings that looked very good. We had the Spanish Sausage appetizer and Paella for our main dish. No complaints about the food .. the Paella was one of the best I’ve had in years. Where the restaurant failed, in my opinion, was service. Despite having a reservation, we were seated in a cove that was dark on the sofa side, buried inside the wall, while the other seat was in the middle of a busy walkway where wait staff went back and forth, many times hitting the back of our chair as they passed. We felt like we were in the middle of a busy hallway, rather than a comfy dining experience. Our waiter was a complete turn-off … not only did he seem casually indifferent and uninterested in our dining, but when we attempted to inquire about their two different types of Paella, he tried to upsell to a very large platter of seafood that had nothing to do with Paella, and was more for a party of more than just two people. As it was, the Paella was so large that we carried away an entire tray of food when we left. He clearly was just trying to increase their profits without a care about the customer. I would come back for the food, but the service was not what I would have preferred.

Is okay. Been there twice, the first time was great. The second was not so good, we were a group of 10 and we were squeeze in to a corner, my stake was over cooked. After we got home we looked a the bill and notice that they sneaked a tip of $15 extra, beware it doesn’t show as a tip on the total like it should. Overprice. There are much less expensive restaurants in Newark and the food is just as good.
