Yianni’s is a great place for a healthy lunch on Asbury – lots of salads and sandwiches to choose from. I love the outdoor seating. The lunch menu had many of the more typical deli sandwiches and burgers, some with a Greek influence and only a small selection of the truly Greek dishes. The Stuffed Grape Leaves were delicious!
My family and I stopped in at Yianni’s because walking downtown it seemed like the only place with a crowd. After eating there, we know why. Starting with the pita and humus was awesome. I had the beef gyro, phenomenal! My wife had the Athenian chicken wrap it was perfect. We can’t wait to go back! It’s a bonafide OC gem!
Gluten Free from California. We are a gluten free family from California and ate at Yianni’s, on a summer Tuesday night, at the recommendation of my father-in-law. The gluten free options were slim at best, but the food was very good and well prepared. By going on a Tuesday night, we had hoped to avoid the crowds but we still had to wait 20 minutes to get a booth. The place was packed. I had the lamb chops which are considered Yianni’s signature dish. They were tender and very tasty. I was not disappointed. My son had the Shrimp and Scallops and cleaned his plate. My wife had the Ghiro plate, sans pita, and my daughter had a cheeseburger without the bun. The service was prompt and the waitress was accommodating and knowledgeable when we had to ask her about the cross contamination possibilities and other allergen issues. Beware, we made sure to ask if the fries were prepared in the same fry oil as the chicken tenders and found out, that not only were the fries fried in the same fryer, but the chicken wings were as well. Overall, this was a great find along the difficult gluten free path to eating out.
