Overpriced meal, not worth a second visit. Beet salad was so spicy, I couldn’t eat it. They added chili peppers to the vinegrette dressing. Sea bass was ok but very small. Risotto had no flavor.
Just Mediocre. I agree with other negative reviewers. Here’s a quick recap of our night. Got a great parking spot which is always a great start. Inside was warm and inviting. Tasteful and classy decor. Hostess was very friendly and assisted us with our coats and directed us to the bar. Off to a great start but then it started to unravel. 2 bartenders were cool and slightly inattentive. It wasn’t bad just a cool unwelcoming feeling. Although well dressed their general skills and manners were somewhat unpolished. Subtle but enough that I have to mention it. The lady bartender was really put out and rushed to the service station to when I asked her if she could transfer our tab to the table. Giving me some goofy excuse about opening a check at the table and then muttering to herself as she huffed away. Dining room again nicely decorated. Classy and comfortable. Wait service at the table was attentive and excellent. Appetizers were good. Excellent crab cake. A stand out. Oysters on the half shell $40 for 12. When I get OTHS I want shredded fresh horseradish and a nice mignonette and I expect this at a nice restaurant. Nothing doing. Some kind of cocktail sauce on the side and a weak vinaigrette. Ok main course. Cioppino. With tomato fennel broth. There was a good amount of seafood in there. A lobster tail, some shrimp a few large scallops, and mussels and clams with some nicely cooked linguini and grilled bread. It was just ok. Aside from the scallops the seafood didn’t come across very fresh but was passable. Broth was a bit thin but tasty enough. Remington Tavern has a really good seafood stew for future reference. Desserts were excellent. Creme brule. Phylo tulip with mascarpone and berries. House made carmel with seasalt gelato. Espresso with a lemon twist to finish. The espresso was very tiny and I’ve had plenty of espressos before. Left me somewhat wanting. Overall mediocre. Our table wait staff was excellent as well as the crab cakes and dessert but that was it. The place needs to take a shining to polish the bar staff’s manners and tune up the kitchen if it wants to be a true contender on the scene. 2 out of 5 for the table wait staff, atmosphere, and the crab cake otherwise would have scored lower.
