Don’t let the nice interior fool you. Review got taken down but still won’t return. They renovated this place from the late 90s underage bar Vinny’s and it is hard to believe this was once a dumpy bar. Walls are decorated with theater posters and paintings exposed brick and dim lighting. Unfortunately the meal was not anywhere near how nice the decor is. Food was overpriced and missing items in the dishes from the descriptions. $12.50 for a salad with 4 pieces of unseasoned grilled chicken and missing crumbly bleu? Could have got an entree for that price but from what I heard everything was bland. Prices do not justify the taste of this food. Did not have a constant server had about 3 different people serving us. One waitress forgot silverware and bread after one of the diners asked twice.
Pretty Good. I’ve eaten at Cabaret twice. The first was for lunch. I had the french onion soup and Cabaret Favorite Salad. Both were really good. When I ate their for dinner I had the chicken parm. The chicken was really tender and the portion was large. Three pieces of chicken, a side of pasta and you get soup or salad. I thought the dinner menu was a little small but I will go back. I enjoyed both meals I’ve eaten there.
Well, I found myself in downtown Buffalo and looking for a place to eat. I had been craving spaghetti for a while so I searched for Italian and found myself at Cabaret. The menu was basic American bar food with an Italian twist so I kept it simple and ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs. Quite strangely this qualified me for any one of several sides, which included gumbo. So I had Buffalo Gumbo and Spaghetti and Meatballs. The gumbo came out immediately and was actually really good. Not Nawlins class but hey! It was spicy and had a lot of stuff in it. Then came the main course…and it was pretty much average. Not bad by any means, just kinda bland. C+.
I Liked It. The menu was somewhat small. Everyone liked their meal though, and the prices were decent.
Good for Lunch. Stopped here for lunch with co-workers (we work downtown) and had a good lunch at a reasonable price. Three people was under 30 bucks, you can’t always even do that at Salsaritas or Sues. I had the Chicken Panini and the sweet potato fries which was very enjoyable. More than enough for lunch, I took half the panini and half the sweet potato fries home and had them the next day.
Meh!. Average. There was no clear host. We waited a few minute for someone to appear. This person appeared to be a bar patron. Cabaret can make a Manhattan. I’m not sure if it was the server or the system that was set up for dinner orders, but my appetizer came out after my dinner. It only came out after I asked where it was before my dinner arrived. Dinner was bland and lacked originality. Only go to Cabaret if you want to be guaranteed a seat @ 7pm on Friday night and you are catching a show in the theater district.
Mediocre at it’s best. Yhey did make a decent dirty martini. The service was sub-par. Waitress forgot to bring us bread (yet brought bread for every other table) and then forgot to bring my wife’s soup until after the entre’s were out. My fettuccine Alfredo with chicken was rather bland. The chicken was clearly pre-cooked and rubbery with no flavor. I would not eat here again. Very disappointing.
