What happened?. I remember going into the Diner many times when it first opened. We used to party up in the Heights and then always end the night at Lake Effect. The food was really good, plentiful and fairly priced. The atmosphere was cool too, the waitresses wore old school ‘diner’ uniforms, there were bubble lights around the place and they had an old style dessert carousel case filled with great pies and fresh fruit cups. My dad and I went there for dinner yesterday and it was borderline embarrassing. The cool atmosphere along with the waitress uniforms are gone. The food has no ‘love’ and is crazy over priced. I am surprised Tucker would let this place slowly fall apart instead of selling or closing. Although, Dug’s Dive seems to have the same problems, no ‘love’ in the food and crazy prices. Too bad.
One of the worst experiences. I moved right around the corner recently, figured this place would look cool and would try it. My girlfriend and I went and were very disappointed. Food was somewhat OK, everything was a bit bland but nothing was bad. The prices, on the other hand, were crazy high. If you order an orange juice here, you might not be able to afford your next rent payment.

Awful. This place is just awful. The only reason I went here was because it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. So disappointing. The service was so bad, the servers were aloof and took forever to wait on us even though the restaurant was not busy. Waitress never came to check on us. The worst part is that all the burgers and sandwiches were expensive and they did not come with a side. You have to pay $3-$4 extra for fries or rings, with the exception of the chicken finger appetizer. The BBQ sauce was excellent, but that’s about the only good thing.
Food is a bit above average for diner food but it is wayyyy overpriced!! I use to eat here a lot because it’s close, but now it seems there portions have gotten a lot smaller. Plus I hate the fact that I also have to pay for a side with a meal (which is 3-4$ extra and they do not even give you a lot!!!)
