Good Simple Bar-B-Que. Great staff! Nice atmosphere.. When I think of a Bar-B-Que joint this is the place that comes to mind. The red barn atmosphere is quaint and inviting… if you can get past the psychotic traffic and construction crews. But certainly worth the fight. Entering the front door instantly takes you to a Texas style Bar-B-Que dive with the great aroma of their smoke pits. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and can pick out a character in a split second. If they peg you right, they will immediately treat you like family. A since of humor is a must, but it is a very warm reception. The food is great. There are others that have complained about one thing or another, but I have yet to eat something undesirable. The gentleman behind the counter had much to suggest and I finally set on their jalapeno sausage sandwich. Their toppings were standard, white onion, house sauce etc. It was very tasty! We ordered their fried okra, (this is mandatory at a bar-b-que restaurant, and it was spot on. Perfect texture, not overdone, not under, the batter was light, crunchy, but not greasy or overstated. I look forward to future visits once the construction mess on the feeding road is cleaned up. Good job guys!
4 out of 10. Red Barn wasn’t our favorite. The barn itself was cute and comfortable, but the barbecue sauce was bad, the sides (we had potato salad and macaroni salad) could have been store-bought and the pulled pork was very dry. The brisket was decent – it had good flavor, though it was also dry. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was underwhelming, especially since that’s our favorite kind of sausage! Overall, I wouldn’t go back.
My family and I ate here for my sister’s birthday (small group of 4). It had been a few years for me, but my parents eat all the time in the evening. The food was better than I remembered; amazing quality BBQ. What left me outraged, however was the service. We were rushed whole trying to decide, the man at the counter verbally berated us to pick a side right then we weren’t standing there gawking for eight minutes; we had just arrived and started discussing what we wanted. So rude. On the brightside, I heat service in the evening is out of this world.
Good Flavor and Portions. Que Crew 10 hit Red Barn BBQ this week in our ongoing search for the area’s best BBQ! It’s BYOB, but there is a Goodie’s nearby if you like a cold beer with your BBQ. The service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere rustic, yet clean. The casual setting was perfect for kicking back with a couple of beers with friends after finishing our BBQ. The meat was all really tender. The Brisket well marblized and the Ribs come off the bone clean. I also had some Jalapeno-Cheddar Sausage, which had food spice, but a little too cheesy for my liking. The Chicken was a little dry, but still very flavorful. The sides were mostly typical (Pinto Beans, Green Beans, Potato Salad) but I especially liked the Broccoli Salad. The one drawback felt by many of us was the lack of smokiness in the meat – while tender and juicey, it didn’t taste like it came from a smoker. (Although the smoke smell is very apparent). It also felt a little pricey, albeit, we are in Colleyville. A 3-Meat Plate (without drink) will run you about $15. All-in-all, a thumbs-up to Red Barn BBQ, but the quest continues. diningoutdfw.com
Crazy good Bar-B-Que! Red Barn is sweet little local jewel. They serve brisket and ribs that come in reasonably sized portions and there are other meats on the menu but mainly it’s a ribs and brisket place. Every plate has 2-3 sides that are the pretty normal barbecue resturaunt sides. Plates aren’t expensive but the price doesn’t affect the taste! If you are looking to find barbecue for lunch or dinner at a good price, you’ve come to the right place!
Gross and overpriced. The sauce tasted like medicine. Sickly sweet. Way too expensive for the quality of food. Would not recommend nor would I eat here again.
Red Barn. What a cute little place for bar-b-que. I love the pulled pork sandwiches and the sausage is really good too! I can’t believe this place used to be a shoe repair shop
