Yum-Yum Sauce is here.. Date: 26 Oct 14. Today my wife and I decided to try a place near our church. We opted for Hon Machi located near Costco’s and 1604. The service provide by Jerry and meal by Chef Chris really had us enjoying our grub in no time. The meal we had was delicious to include Steak, Chicken, Fried Rice, and mixed veggies. We also found the yum-yum sauce to be quite good. Most Hibachi Restaurants that we have visited seem to only offer a ginger or hot mustard sauce. We found the food and service to be quite good and we look forward to returning soon. Thanks Hon Machi Staff for a great experience and meal.
Great food great service. My husband and I eat here often. we love the food and the service. The quality of sushi and sashimi is better grade. We highly recommend it! Cat & Darrell
First and Last. Went here for a work lunch today. Though there were ten of us at two different grills with all separate checks, they would only give us a single tempura appetizer with the coupons from their website. What a cheap place. We spent well over $250 and its not like they couldn’t use the business. It was our group and six others in the place. Steamed rice was cold, the chef was clumsy, and his timing on cooking lunch was lacking. We will not be going back.
Delicious!. Our server was great and hilarious ! We haven’t laughed that hard in a while! Sushi was great as well!
Dave. Our Groupon Expired yesterday, so we weren’t able to take advantage of the discount intended. We come here almost weekly, and were disappointed to be told that our Groupon, which expired yesterday, would only be valued for what we originally purchased it for. We won’t be buying Groupon’s for this restaurant because we don’t feel comfortable for the way the Groupon was handled. I personally, as an owner, would have accepted the Groupon, based on the repeat business and because the restaurant business is in a very nasty lull due to the economy. I know the Groupon expired, one day later, but the action by the restaurant was disturbing!
Poor sushi and service. I arrived here on a GroupOn deal and wish I hadn’t. It’s a very quiet sushi house in the middle of a retail strip next to an intersection under construction. The decor is marred by a massive scrolling LED message trying to remind everyone that it’s happy hour while the music doesn’t fit at all. We almost walked out before sitting down but continued anyway, ordering 3 special rolls for $28 – the first tasted a little funky, the second was battered unpleasantly, and the third was okay. All the food generally tasted too spicy with too much wasabi everywhere. The wine pours are mean for the price (maybe a 4 oz pour of Kendall Jackson chardonnay for $7.50). The service is all over the place – you get a different person constantly so there’s no real flow to the meal. I hate to say bad things about local businesses but there are really better options around for sushi – including the $30 GroupOn, it was still $54 with tip for a meal that my wife wouldn’t eat and I didn’t feel so good afterwards for eating.
Some of the best sushi in San Antonio the fried rice is excellent.
